Who knew!?

You can record private notes against the profile of any site member? I didn’t, until just now. ** fist bump **

I’m terrible at remembering things unless written down, so the notes function seems a very useful way of recording such things as:

Ignored my message for 2 weeks and then replied and asked me to “try again in a week or so when” she “wasn’t so busy”

Or

Asked me for a dick pic thanks in their first message, moments after scolding a guy in the forum for sending an unsolicited one

And

Admitted to being caught By the police, noshing off a guy in Debenhams car park in 2015

*****

What “notes” have you recorded?

what do you find it useful to remind your of?

No user names please! You’ll get bannedededed

Clock menu, then “private notes”. Record them there. Should be there whenever you revisit.

Thankfully they’re not the only options, but it’s sad that so many of them are needed. There are some properly appalling people using Fab.

I don't really use them. I thought your first quote was interesting though, in that you implied it was a bad thing she said. I think if she took the time to reply to a message 2 weeks after you wrote it, she must have been really busy for those 2 weeks (possibly with real life stuff) and saved your message to come back to and then she asked you to message again in a week because she was busy at the moment. Isn't that a reasonable thing to do, if maybe you're going through a busy patch in your life and haven't got time to chat much, but you like them?

I'm hypothesising of course, she may have just been ignoring you, but it sounded like she was busy and still took the time to reply to you lol

I did think that, to be fair. I didn’t mind the wait for 2 weeks. It was the “try again in a few weeks” part. Made it feel like a lottery haha x

This is probably more of a comment on the comfortable lefty bubble I inhabit than anything else, but Fab is by *far* the most far-right Daily Heil website I've ever been on in all the twenty-one years I've had access to the internet.

My goodness, I need to get off the internet if it’s considered “far-right” here. I have quite the opposite impression. I feel a distinct left leaning bias here; in terms of broadsheet readership, certainly more G than T readers. Not extreme in views by any means but somewhat reflective of the general population.

I admit to being somewhat right of centre and see ‘righties’ being pilloried here, which is not unusual in general society either. However, I can categorically say that neither I nor any of my right leaning friends harbour the sentiments you proclaim, unjustly, that we are perceived to do. Quite the opposite. We devote our time and resources to helping where we can.

However, as we tend to be more tolerant and not as vocal as our left leaning compatriots, we absorb their vilification with dignity and simply go about our business trying to make the World a better one.

However, I can categorically say that neither I nor any of my right leaning friends harbour the sentiments you proclaim, unjustly, that we are perceived to do. Quite the opposite. We devote our time and resources to helping where we can.

However, as we tend to be more tolerant and not as vocal as our left leaning compatriots, we absorb their vilification with dignity and simply go about our business trying to make the World a better one."

Well said

"I have allowed my subscription to expire, and I can now no longer make notes. Boo.

Does it still allow you access to your previous notes?"

Nope. Clicking on them now just takes me to the 'Become a site supporter' page.

"My notes have included:

"They've done nothing wrong. I just don't find them attractive."

"Anti-vaxxer or COVID-denier".

"Only looking for bi guys".

"Barebacker".

"Dangerous misogynist".

"Murderous fascist".

Hah, yours are like some of mine! I keep notes so I know why I’ve blocked people, and I definitely have “anti vaxxer”, “transphobe”, “men’s rights activist” etc.

If it’s because of a really bad message or forum post, I’ll copy and paste it into my note. I also make a note if I’ve reported someone because otherwise I click their profile and it looks like I’ve blocked them.

Oh, I've definitely noted down "transphobe" and "MRA" as well. I've also had to write things like "Hates poor people", "Thinks anyone who can't work should be left to die" and "Wants disabled people put under house arrest".

This is probably more of a comment on the comfortable lefty bubble I inhabit than anything else, but Fab is by *far* the most far-right Daily Heil website I've ever been on in all the twenty-one years I've had access to the internet.

Conversely, I'm sure there are people who've got notes on me that say things like "woke trash", "snowflake", "white knight", "soy boy", "simp", or whatever the parroted reactionary buzzwords are this week.

Actual LOL.

A bit like the men who scream “not all men”, if you aren’t like that, it’s not about you, so there’s no need for you to get upset about it."

.

I think you must have misread me. I am not at all upset. My point is that it is certainly far from hard right wing here. I believe it’s the contrary. I’m used to being perceived all sorts for being right of centre, hence not at all upset. It’s par for the course.

Stockport

Lol just looked at a guys profile that recently winked us, I’d made a private note over a year ago:

Tired to arrange a social. He said he’d check his diary then nothing. He did wink a couple of weeks later, but what’s the point in that!

So we won’t be winking back this time

See handy and saves wasting time again!

Mrs J

(Did laugh at another note we’d made that we stumbled across over the weekend. Part of it said: Nice enough but she looked like liz Macdonald but a lot older!)

I don’t keep notes, simply because basing judgement on one isolated post, then sticking with your reaction based on that one moment in time of reaction and counter reaction, is liable to lead to bias and contradictory behaviour.

There are lots of people that I’ve disagreed with over the years or who have had bad periods and posted negatively but who I respect massively, are good people and I’d happily meet.

If someone is a repeated dochecanoe, they’ll show it and I’ll remember. If I’ve had a meaningful conversation with them, I’ll also remember.

Making judgement based notes only serves to perpetuate judgement and ignores my situation at the time, so I don’t

I've never used them. Ain't nobody got time fo dat! If I can't remember something about someone or something they've said or done, then that's a blessing imo

If they're really offensive, unstable, uneccessarily unkind or clearly not someone I want to communicate with, then occasionally I'll block them, that's enough negativity for me

For me it’s more that if I feel the need to block or report someone, whether it’s for the way they’ve messaged me or for appalling behaviour on the forums, a note helps me to remember why. I’ve blocked people for a single post bragging about doing something without consent, for example. In those circumstances, it doesn’t matter how nice they might seem to be otherwise, I’ll never want anything to do with them.

That’s fair enough, I usually remember things like that.

I have memory problems and a long block list!

I’ve a terrible memory for some things but my block list is very short and I tend not to bother with the small disagreements or issues that some get caught up about, that’s possibly why I can remember.

If someone shows themselves to be a bigot, racist, liar, abuser, etc, I remember, if it’s run of the mill asshole, I tend to let it go
