True equality ans random -rascal- thoughts

If we want it, don't we need to ALL start acting equal and forget pretending that we're all so uniquely special with our unique personal experiences and backgrounds? Because that by definition would screw up the equality we're seeking, wouldn't it?

Is equality just some kind of human osmosis?

It's just a thought, but hating the haters or introducing "positive" discrimination might seem temporary in many of your minds but it's still hurting someone just as much and in the same way as the original sin in my view. Why can't folk BE or LIVE equal rather than telling others they're wrong or inferior because of their views, background or how they behave?

It doesn't matter how beautiful you are, if you have a beautiful new dress and fight over it with another beautiful person, you're gonna rip the dress and break some nails, right?

Pile on then?

Bit confused by the OP though it's Friday and I may be dim. Are we talking in general like feminism or something or like people who have had an experience for example child neglect and tries to explain to those who haven't suffered how they dealt with it?

Ok rascal. Here’s what I think. Everyone and I mean everyone should be equal with regards to respect, opportunities etc etc. Should the woman who can’t be arsed to go to work and has 15 kids be able to have the same things I have because I work often 7 days a week and could only afford 2 kids ( with an 11 year age gap because I wasn’t in a position financially to bring another into the world earlier) ?

Then no I think not.

We will never all be equal. The system is designed purposefully to keep us exactly unequal. We may be gradually trying to remove prejudice over race, colour, religion, sex, sexuality etc but wealth will always divide.

But why fight? The dress could be out relationship, our street, our community, our NHS, our love? Just gets worse if you fight and someone comes off the loser - maybe this is the system the box of frogs lady was referring to earlier, the way we fight for what WE need, rather than discuss and compromise on what's best for ALL overall *shrugs*

Do you think we actually ARE all equal my lovely? Or just that we should be treated so. I think Stephen Hawkin is better than me at astro physicsie type stuff and I'd hate for my books on astro physics to get published because people would be getting all lost in the night sky and there would be warnings that planets might start bumping into each other or falling towards earth

I feel the same about some other "experts" who get published, or publish themselves

Equality as a way of life is a natural impossibility.

Survial of the fittest and natural instinct, even seemingly dormant instinct will take over.

Equality in terms of respect, is more likely. However free will can't be overcome. To actually create true equality you would have to oppress large groups of people. Which in and of itself would not create equality because there would always be an oppressor to oversee it. There will always be those that seek to take that mantle.

Equality of opportunity is the closest thing we can come to achieving it. And even that is not fully. There will always be factors and situations that will exclude somebody or groups of people - jobs for example, despite opening it to everyone, not everyone can do that job and by giving them said job would be a liability.

Why do people keep saying this lol? It's like saying father Christmas is real - it's not an evidence based approach and it's a little sad that so many have given up on equality and yet they are so vocal on equality. Like it's some kind of unattainable goal, like we're all sinners and nothing good can come of this life. I strongly believe you can create anything you like if you want to, it just might take a little convincing of others in this case because too many have spread the messagea if doom with little knowledge.

Because fact. That's why.

The very moment you give everyone equality, there will be somebody waiting to swoop in and take more.

Small scale, it is potentially obtainable, but globally it is an impossibility. And if it is not global equality then it is not equality. Resulting in failure.

The world is filled with those that want to take advantage, some of those people have a means to do so.

Even on a personal level, you can try to treat people equal. But somebody at some point will take advantage of that in some form or another.

Equality among humans is a pipe dream that will never happen, certainly not long term.

No, it's fact. The nature of every living creature is to seek out opportunity and take advantage of it for their own benefit. In addition to that, the human nature also factors in greed along with self preservation.

Combined with even if you present everyone with equal beginnings, they will make use of them differently. Their choices create inequality. World events create inequality. Even blind dumb luck creates inequality.

People are vocal about equality because you can view equality but you can never create it. Their vision of equality is narrow and never expands to inevitable possibilities and outcomes, they want to believe it but can never achieve it. The illusion of equality however is all we can hope to achieve.

It's just a thought, but hating the haters or introducing "positive" discrimination might seem temporary in many of your minds but it's still hurting someone just as much and in the same way as the original sin in my view. Not at all, I love free speaking, wouldn't be here if I didn't buddy. I was asking a question regarding why I can say out loud in civilised company that Boris looks a mess or is a mess but I couldn't say that about someone with less status. How equal does that seem to you? The true equality that I was pondering in my simple mind at the beginning of this thread was just that - treating people with respect and honesty and owning your words morally regardless of your views about them and allowing them the privilege to do the same in return. Not the quality for likes, popularity and division that seems popular currently.

-r-

She's more beautiful than me so she can have the beautiful new dress."

Share the dress, right, both look pretty and make a friend?

"Equality of opportunity not equality of outcome

A merit based society

What about the people who have low ability or merit? It could become a little "'ist"?

That’s life

So is equality is just something we talk about to impress others then and it doesn't really matter?

Should everyone be prime minister?

Should everyone be a professional footballer?

Should everyone have your job?

Or should we all have the opportunity to try?

That's a very good point, however isn't a little status focused? What about how we actually treat those people, Boris for example, is it ok for us all to say we hate him and that he's sleazy and his hair is silly? We can't say that to some other groups of people now can we?

All people are welcome to my job

That’s got nothing to do with equality though.

You’re basically suggesting we remove free speech so that no one ever feels they’ve been spoken against unfairly?

Not at all, I love free speaking, wouldn't be here if I didn't buddy. I was asking a question regarding why I can say out loud in civilised company that Boris looks a mess or is a mess but I couldn't say that about someone with less status. How equal does that seem to you? The true equality that I was pondering in my simple mind at the beginning of this thread was just that - treating people with respect and honesty and owning your words morally regardless of your views about them and allowing them the privilege to do the same in return. Not the quality for likes, popularity and division that seems popular currently."

I’m lost. You can say anyone looks a mess? What’s stopping you

"In your opinion yes. Fact is something else.

So why are so many people so vocal about equality without truly believing in it? Is it just to allow them to pick and choose THEIR version of equality and prosper from it I wonder?

I'm not gonna do you any favours so I'll stop trying, but you're still confusing opinion with fact

Why did I check in on my elderly neighbor yesterday? She has nothing to offer me to further my existence, she's a pain in my arse always moaning and asking me to fix things.

I think when we stop thinking we know everything and that the outcome is fate or fact, then we see our true potential and power for change

I can think of several examples where a person could get ripped to shreds for saying such a thing, but it would be cruel to list them and would probably offend good friends so I won't, the same as I think it's pretty unnecessarily rude to say Boris looks a mess, especially when it's used as some kind of cheap back up for a political argument. I don't want to be cruel unnecessarily, do you?

No honestly whilst there are two different sexes there will never be equality. In some cases men will be more dominant and in others women. It is plain biology.

I will send you my boobs in the post. They are jolly annoying most of the time. You might get more use out of them
