Thanks for the review, I don’t have Netflix. Had a feeling this was going to suck despite the hype.

Manchester (he/him)

We quite enjoyed it, I liked the ‘zombie heist’ aspect of it and how it managed to incorporate those aspects into the film.

It was fairly predictable but there were enough fun characters and action to keep it moving along.

It doesn’t go for the full horror treatment, it has its tongue firmly planted, which will put off most purists.

Personally though, I found it just a touch too long but a fun film nonetheless.

3/5

Ok, I'll bite - what is the point of zombie films? They're all exactly the same. And all utter BS to start with. I just don't understand what it is that makes them so popular - tell me!!!!

Not looking for any kind of argument, just trying to see what it is that makes people watch more than the first ten minutes of a single one and then never bothering again for the rest of their life...

To be honest Netflix is a great platform and they do some amazing series but I find most of their actual movies to be a little lacking.

Understand what you’re saying but you could literally say the same thing about any genre of film or tv, you could possibly even stretch that to music.

Have you not seen Zombeavers then?

That was truly dire.

I didn't have high expectations of AotD so wasn't too disappointed by it, I would give it a 4.5/10

I actually kind of enjoyed it, but I have a rule with these films that I switch the brain off before it starts. It helps.

Just over there

I rather enjoyed it but I am a big Zack Snyder fan

Ash v the Evil dead seasons is definitely worth a watch especially if you're a fan of the evil dead movies

It was a Zack Snyder movie so you generally go in to them expecting all style and no substance, which is mostly what it was. Most of his movies tend to have that vibe, with a bit of a subtle/hidden whole other side to it.

Cant say I loved it, I sort of enjoyed it. I liked that I was not just the basic take on the standard zombie stuff which has been done to death (pun!), and I say that as a fan of the old school sterotype zombie.

Did not help that roughly an hour of the movie was about getting the team together.

Somewhere In The Ether…

For me, nothing will ever come close to the late, great George Romero’s original trilogy which introduced the world to flesh eating ‘ghouls’ as we so love them today; Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead and Day Of The Dead.

I am deliberately omitting gory George’s final three zombie films: Land Of The Dead (it was fun at least), Diary Of The Dead and Survival Of The Dead as they were not nearly on the same level.

It sounds terrible from what I've read about it. I used to love the zombie genre with the old Romero films, and The Walking Dead was good up until about season 5, but it sparked dozens of really bad zombie films cashing in on the genre much the same as Saving Private Ryan and Band Of Brothers did for WW2.

I agree, I quite liked it. Having been to Vegas before it was fun looking at all the places I've seen before the zombie apocalypse. The characters are quite interesting, some good special effects and the film has a tongue-in-cheek feel along the lines as Shaun of the Dead. It was better than I was expecting!

It was OK, but that is it.

I like the idea of a heist, but the zombie part was a bit crap.

There were too many 'why?' moments too.

SPOLIERS (but I'll try keeping them cryptic)

Why do people stand around and watch the women get killed after she had the best fight sequence in the film and fought off so many.

Why did she not warm about the bad guy

Why did they bother with a heist and not just how them to go for the 'target'

Why the baby?

Why did they not show happened to the other female hostage that survived

Why do zombies not eat each other when in the sun, if they eat warmed up zombie parts.

Why did they not just thrown something heavy on the triggers?

Why did they mention dried up zombies that come back when it rains... and have no rain.

If you want to see a really fun, under appreciated zombie film then give Anna and the Apocalypse a go.

Ok, a gory, Christmas themed, musical, comedy zombie film might not be too everyone's taste but I loved it.

I agree I thought it was a poor film..

I do like the zombieland films though. (At least there's humour in them.)

I did quite like a film that came out called "the dead don't die"..quite quirky & humourous again; good cast in the film too.
