No, but I did start a thread start away, I won’t say what it was, cause it didn’t go down to well, let’s just say I didn’t read the room very well, but it gave everyone the chance to get to know me.

No I didn't! I posted on a thread, got some not particularly nice replies. Tried again a week or so later with a question, a few responses. And then something clicked and I just started posting and people enjoyed my waffle.

I would have done an introductory thread but back then it would have gone unnoticed or I'd have been ripped into probably.

What is the big deal in regards to starting a thread? I don’t understand why anyone would be worried about it to be honest.

It’s just a forum. I don’t see it as something to be worried about. You will either get reply’s or not...

I guess for me it was that fear of embarrassment. I want to come across as a nice guy, I want to get to know people and enjoy the social side that this site offers without making myself out to be a tool.

Also something I probably haven't been that successful in regardless!

I didn't say 'hi' just jumped straight in commenting on every thread going.

Probably didn't take long to do my first one but have no idea what it was or how it was recieved and then it was full steam ahead.

I did do a mighty rambling essay explaining a few things about my mental health - you could possibly call that a 'hi' thread.

But when I first started using the forum I was in the early days of a manic high so I was possibly a very hyperactive thread poster/commentator.

Actually my first thread might have been a 'hello to newbies and lurkers' thread even though I was a newbie myself.

Actually my first thread might have been a 'hello to newbies and lurkers' thread even though I was a newbie myself."

I found it so addictive when I first joined. I was here there and everywhere...I still am!

I'm sure there will have been lots of people who the mental health thread touched. It's good to talk x

"I never posted a newbie thread just lingered around to see how it worked, I only add to the fun threads, occasionally I start to write an essay in response to some threads and then delete, can’t be bothered with the backlash it may cause, so happy to stay quiet"

I do this too.

"My first venture into the lounge seems so long ago that I can't remember. But I didn't when I came back this time. It would seem pointless as I've never been one of the big forum personalities, more of a comer and goer. "

If I go..I'm doing a thread. And when I come back (which I probably will) I'll be doing a thread

Manchester (he/him)

I can’t actually remember my first thread on the forums but it wasn’t a hello thread as I’d been reading for quite a while before getting verified.

It all seems so very long ago!

I’ve done several leaving and returning threads since though

In the interests of the curisosity and inquiring mind of the OP I have trawled the archives and my first thread was about suggestions for a bucket list which got 6 replies (3 if you remove my posts from it). For the life of me I don't know why as I hate bucket lists

"What is the big deal in regards to starting a thread? I don’t understand why anyone would be worried about it to be honest.

It’s just a forum. I don’t see it as something to be worried about. You will either get reply’s or not...

I see a thread and il reply. Iv only been posting a couple of weeks myself.

I guess for me it was that fear of embarrassment. I want to come across as a nice guy, I want to get to know people and enjoy the social side that this site offers without making myself out to be a tool.

Also something I probably haven't been that successful in regardless!"

Ahh I see. I don’t care if I come across as a tool and I wouldn’t feel embarrassment from strangers on the end of a keyboard.

I’m sure you come across great also

If I remember correctly I did post the usual asking for profile advice but other than dropping the pointless disclaimer it was apparently ok

I think sometimes what time they are posted can have an effect on amount of replies.

It wasn't at 3am was it?

I started posting here in the last couple of weeks 'cos a couple of others users told me about it. Generally quite fun... and when you take the sex stuff out, the same as every other forum.

I haven't started a thread yet.
