"My first wage from full time jobs was £10 a week back in 1971. Could buy 4 pints of lager for £1 or 5pints of bitter " 1971 was the first year of decimalisation of the currency and a lot of pubs took advantage of the rounding up to increase prices. Pints which were 2 shilling and 6 pence in old money suddenly became 20p or 25p in new money an increase of around 50%. | |||
