Two Honda CRV.Between them did about 150,000 miles. Compared with Range Rover Sports. 34000. Timing chain snapped. Off road for nearly two month . Arguing getting work done. Luckily was doing about 10 miles an hour when chain snapped. Plus had extended warranty. Though the next year would have to pay around £1000 for another year. Got shot of vehicle. Vehicle was a 66 plate. Registered in December 2016

Toyota RAV4 did about 240,000 miles literally with minor things repairing , fella at the garage said they were virtually indestructible.

Compare with the Merc I got which swallows up a grand every MOT and service .

I have had my little Renault Clio for 9 years and she is like a family member, I love her.

We will be sending her to car heaven or possibly selling her on within the next 12 months and I get totes emosh thinking of it.

My trafic is just turning 90k and 8 years old. I’m turning it into a camper now I don’t use it for work.

2012 BMW 320d; 120k miles, never lifted the bonnet except to service and add wiper fluid...got an XF afterwards, in the garage every 2 months with minor issues...irritating. Have a BMW bike though 13 years old...faultless

We have an A4 and an Octavia, both with PD engines. Service them every year or around every 10000 miles and I'm told you can get 350000 miles out of them .

Buy what the taxi drivers drive.

That said, the Jap cars are good too.

Merc C class, was the worst car I've ever had the misfortune. -

4 sets of brake discs in 10,000 miles.

Drowned the fecker in the finish and will never buy another. Shocking customer service by Mercedes.

Three DS4's so far, and all have been seriously good on MPG, and about half the cost to service, than a Merc.

Looking online when fault occurred. A lot of Range Rovers etc, which had same engine fitted Had same fault. Some people ended up paying £10k to have replacement engine. But did get some money back from Land Rover. Who when I contacted , did not want to know. Reply from them first of all was . All cars break down.

Ive only ever owned 2 cars, a '99 puma and '09 corsa vxr.. but considering my corsa is stage 2, has been sat sitting doing nothing for months on end, hardly had much servicing and still done several hundred mile long trips quite a lot since ive had it for the last 4 years, shes still going strong.. just misfires when my foot is on the floor but thats just a recent issue that risen. Id say pretty damn reliable considering whats under the bonnet and ive put her through. Which is hilarious when ppl say theyre shit.. but i just reckon they expect a car to keep running like normal after they keep red lining them

Lovely to drive purrs like a kitten with plenty of power, I've driven a Mondeo drove plenty of cars in my life due to my previous occupation I found Mondeo heavy cars debated at times for a Peugeot very smooth performance.

Audi A4 that I sold with 220k and went for another 30k before they sold it. Original clutch lasted 230k.

Currently have a BMW 520D that's now over 200k with half the miles being mine. Brakes tyres and and few suspension bits all seemed reasonable with the milage, £500 for a new headlight was a bit steep though

just picked up a new fault with the flat tyre sensing system which I'm hoping isn't anything costly

I've also owned a Rover 820i, both cars were heavy, but loved chewing up the miles on the motoroway. Lovely seats, much better than the Polo, 405 and MK11 Astra that I had. The Montego estate was somewhere in between.

Wow... my BMW never need services , they just remind you for brake pads, oil and brake fluid and you can take them anywhere just insist they use genuine parts, they are cheaper to run than my Mondeos were

I only ever used standard oil...I'm not sure what any previous owners had used. I always service regularly though, around every 10,000 miles

Years ago we bought an old Toyota for £50. It was held together with string but it just keep going and never let us down. When we could afford a slightly better one we sold it to a motor museum (yes, it was that old) for £50.

I owned a citroen Xsara with the first gen HDI 2.0 turbodiesel. I put nearly 400,000 km on the clock, literally running it into the ground

Everything needed some attention (paint, gearbox, suspension) by the end except the engine that was still pristine. Wouldn't waste a drop of oil
