Made you look

I'm thinking of getting a rescue dog

I'm so excited.

Has anyone else adopted a pet from the RSPCA?

Somewhere In The Ether…

My previous pooch was a rescue dog. She was absolutely adorable - a Jack Russell crossed with a dachshund. She looked kind of odd and I was often asked what she was(!) but her nature was incredibly loving

Aw

She sounds beautiful

I don't mind what breed of dog it is - I just want him / her to have a good nature.

It is a great thing to do but maybe get some dog training lessons with the new pooch!

I’ve had 4 too. One was in such a state when I got her. Most of her fur had fallen out and she was covered in eczema. Scared of everything. She’d wet herself if she heard a loud voice.

It was a joy to nurse her and help her become a wonderful friend. Hope you have a similar experience. Rip Molly.

I got an amazing dog from the dogs trust! Brilliant personality and such a great temperament it was my first dog and they helped with some basic training sessions ahead of the adoption.

They were so thorough with meet and greets too, can’t recommend them highly enough

Hampshire/Dorset

My friend has a Romanian rescue dog, she is the sweetest little dog.

She was found in the street, pregnant with a rope tied round her belly.

Ive only ever had rescue dogs, though not from Rspca, and they were all wonderful in their own ways.

Some can have serious issues which may be too much for you so get as much information as you can and don't rush into anything. But I do believe that dogs who've had a tough time do respond to real love and care very quickly and I've been amazed how some of mine went from terrified to confident in a relatively short time.

Giving a rescue dog a good home is an amazing thing to do - go for it and good luck

Would also mention the Blue Cross for rescue dogs.

Thankyou

I'm not rushing into anything- I've been thinking about it for a long time and was going to buy a puppy.

But so many animals need a home and I have the time and live to give to a rescue animal.

I hope being a first time dog owner doesn't stand in my way.
