Second time for me (Luke).

I knew a guy who failed his test because he lost his car. The test centre was full and he had to park a couple of streets away. He checked in and met his examiner. When they walked back to his car he couldn't remember where he put it. When they eventually found it, the examiner said there was no longer enough time to complete the test so he had to fail him.

I passed first time... I don't know how because I drive terribly and just kept saying sorry my mouths just so dry like every 2 minutes haha... Most supprising moment of my life when he told me I'd passed

Second time.

My instructor sat in the back of the test car and it put me off. Came out of test centre, looked left, then right then pulled out. Car coming to the left and he had to use the brake- Instant fail but I had to carry on for the rest of the test

Second time I asked him to wait in the test centre.

Felt more relaxed and passed

1st time a couple of years ago (used to ride a motorbike and help restore cars, so I mainly knew what I was doing).

No, they don't do 3 point turns anymore. They switched it out for more useful skills.

Yes, they can test you on following a SatNav instead of taking verbal directions. I think they said a 1 in 5 chance of getting verbal directions.

I passed 2nd time. My first test was on a Friday afternoon at 4 pm, used to be considered the worst test of the week because all the examiners just wanted to go home. I got no major faults but a long list of minor faults on that test. 2nd test flew through with no faults.

Never taken one. Driving lessons on my legal age to drive birthday were the worst present I've ever had and hated every minute of driving. Never tried again since.

Pretty traumatic. Nearly 200 lessons, 4 instructors and finally passed on the 5th. I passed my theory test 1st try before I started lessons. It’s took me so long to pass I had to retake the theory (that I then failed and had to retake

) I got there in the end though!

Second time lucky for me. The first time I had the largest instructor/tester person ever in the history of people, to the point where he was so big he was actually sitting on the handbrake and I had to ask him to get off it so I could use it. I think I was doomed from the "can I get to the handbrake plz" comment onwards on my first test

Passed first time and with less faults than my old man who was the one who taught me from the age of 13.. hes been a driving instructor/consultant in london for over 20 years. Even got the advanced tutoring when i hit 17. Although surprisingly i didnt actually get my licence until i was 21. So im lucky to have had that training. Wouldnt mind going for my ADI licence and see if i can take on the RoADAR training too

One of our friends wives took 13 tests, gave up and then after a further 8, finally passed.

He bought her a new car and she promptly crashed it whilst trying to put it in the garage.

1st time.

A few minutes into the test, a cat ran in front of the car, I slammed on, stalled, thought I'd failed there and then. I relaxed after that and didn't make any faults. Couldn't believe it when he said I'd passed.

My sister passed her test first time 1989, in Italy after living there a year. She also had a theory test which I didn't have when I passed my test in 1986.

4th time for me. The first fail was so frustrating as a lorry pulled out on me on a roundabout. I stopped as I had nowhere to go and I failed for stopping on a roundabout. Even the examiner said it wasn't my fault but he had no choice.

2nd and 3rd I was too nervous and did stupid things wrong.

4th time I was sure I'd failed near the start of the test and thought "fuck it just got to get to the end now", the nerves disappeared and I passed with only 1 minor fault.
