Why 175?

And not 170 or 200 or 100 or 1000, why do threads end at 175 who decided that is the number that a thread ends on?

It's got something to do with internet paper. A geek will be able to explain it better than me.

The thread imps get knackered writing our posts out on special 'web paper'. 175 is all they can manage.

The highest I've seen was around 300. There was a concerted effort by those who knew the secret to hit a high number.
