If you're either of those in the first place then I have no sympathy, I'm assuming you're referencing the hate crime bill

Being normal is being homophobic and racist?

It's telling that he considers homoohobia and being racist as 'normal'

I'm not, I'm taking about normal talk, where someone might crack a joke about PoCs or LGBTs which is part of comedy

Absolutely no problem. Live alone so I can say what I like without the fear of me grassing myself in.

Why do people always have a tendency to pick a side, dig their heels in and fight and push the other side further and further away and make them less and less welcome in open debate and discussion. I've seen so much of this on the forum lately. Did the two sides never think of living in harmony and respecting one another's views? And I say that at least as much to the left as the right - there's so much intolerance unless people share the same view or political beliefs as your own

I don't think anyone would have an issue discussing the bill itself but it's the attitude that came with his post. No need for it tbh.

Why doesn't anyone try to understand it though and influence or discuss the reasons for it rather than condemn and drive it away?

But that's what I'm saying isn't it? Had it been about the bill without the snidey comments attached it'd played out differently I'd guess but hey, I'm only giving him what he wanted in first place x

Making fun, laughing, joking, I'm just pulling your leg, it was just a bit of fun. That's how bullying starts.
