Has anybody had a scooter like the lexmoto Milano?

It has now been discontinued, but online it looks like a really nice scooter.

If not that one have you any experience of similar ones, I'm just doing a bit of research at the moment, nothing over a 125.

(Please answer in the forum so everybody can enjoy the conversation and share information.)

?

I've had a couple of Vespas...one geared and one automatic.

The automatics are easier to ride, but I personally preferred the geared and found it handier to get out of the way when idiot car drivers don't see you (you can just drop a gear and move rather than waiting for the automatic to respond).

Vespas look very similar to the one you mentioned, and I would think they'll hold their value more when you decide to sell it on...plus there's a good range of accessories for them.

Thank you, I will check them out

Looks wise they are on point. There is an awful lot of criticism of build quality and the 2 year warranty and what it covers, this seems to change from dealer to dealer

Engine wise they are on point, that said the electrical components are cheap and that’s where the issues seem to be

Also they have had some recalls so I’d want to make sure all that has been done

As a twist and go they seem to do the job

I always look at YouTube user reviews before buying any bike as they seem to give the most balanced opinions

Be wary.

Chinese bike builds have got better but parts are still an issue, and while we’ll put together they usually use cheaper manufacturing processes which mean they rust ..quickly.

Biggest issue is the money trap. A twist n go, scarcity of parts (consumables are ok mostly pattern parts, but try getting plastics…) and the Vespa styling (which gets the attention of thrives, the Vespa GTS is the most knocked bike) mean they are not liked by insurance underwriters, while depreciating like a mission pointed at the ground. You will be very lucky not to lose money (a lot) if you need to claim on insurance.

Something to think about.

I'd still rather have a ten year old used Honda than a new Lexmoto for similar money. Yes, the Chinese are getting better, but Im personally not convinced yet.

Does this make them a used bargain or more like a used Alfa Romero?

Given the choice, personally, between a used lex and a used transit van direct from an armed robbery, covered in heroin dust and doing donuts outside Scotland Yard…I’d want to know what are tyres like on the van.

In my opinion best 125cc is the Yamaha YZF R125 I know it’s not a scooter but can’t be beat

If you want a retro looking scooter for half the cost of a vespa then they are great and not too bad reliability wise
