A little query here on something I have just noticed in another post… but should age matter when attending a social and / or club?

Limit numbers by all means I say but not age?

Age should not come into it. Do you stop wanting to chat and meet up with likeminded friends when you hit a certain age ....... I know I wont

In my opinion age has the least to do with it...

A sharp mind and a twinkle in the eye is far more important

Numbers I mean… ratio of single men to ladies and couples… getting a good mix

There and to the left a bit

Up to the individual club/event to be honest - their club/event, their rules.

Can understand some clubs/events being age restricted either way to preserve the dynamic of the event - likewise understand clubs generally having an over 21 policy - many 18 year olds (especially men) aren't mature enough IMHO

I definitely wouldn’t of been prepared at 18 to go to a club

I have very strict age filters and I’ve found that 18-99 works best for me

The OP was asking about age limits in clubs, not personal choices.

I guess the club's aim for who their research shows are popular.

If I’m attending a club or social I always expect there will be a wide range of ages there. I perhaps would be put off if there were a high percentage of people in their very early 20s but that’s generally because I’m getting on and can’t keep up with the kids anymore.

A social is after all where we get to see maturity and immaturity (both sexes) in harmless surroundings… a club on the other hand is on a more personal setting

On a mooch

A club I can understand if a certain type of night. A social not so much, it’s a good chance for all ages to chat, swap information and have a laugh

I don't think clubs should have age limits.

Good question, cos in this country you can legally have sex, get married and fight for your Country when you're 16, but you can't vote, buy a pint or a porno mag until you're 18

I’ll probably be sat just hoping that I don’t make a fool of myself, wouldn’t drink until i was comfortable and respectfulness is a given

For clubs understand an age limit, for socials not at all, it simply makes no sense... if you have 30 year olds, are they more likely to have something in common with 55 year olds or 27 year olds? And conversely are 50 year olds more likely to chat to 21 year olds or 58 year olds?

Plus... if Denzel ever turns up... he’s bloody pensionable age nearly, are we turning him away???

However, what if because they feel they won’t have anything in common they don’t chat but they may share some interests?

True but it kinda makes my point, without restrictions on age there is an option to talk to a range of people, age isn’t important, attitude is

I’m looking forward to attending but very nervous as to how welcome I’d be
