We all had one donkey's years ago but I don't seem to see them any more.

Mine was lavender sheer material, with a lavender ribbon tied at the neck.

Me neither.

Looked everywhere, but they seem to be out of fashion, along with baby dolls.

I own several bought off eBay mainly as I absolutely love them. You generally won’t find them in the usual lingerie departments but in vintage clothing shops you can find one or two bargains.

Still sell babydolls all over. I've bought a few recently.

No idea what a negligee consists of though. Is it just a longer line babydoll, like nightdress length? X

I had a long pale blue one long ago but it was a bit "staticky" and didn't like how it would cling lol

I prefer my black satin kimono style wrap these days by far.

A negligee is the sign of a woman wanting warmth whatever that form comes in

Are the baby dolls floaty, see through nylon?

Negligees were worn over the baby doll and was made of the same floaty material. Some had marabou trim.

We had satin kimonos too. Mine was dark blue with a gold pattern on I think.

My mum went through a stage of giving me negligees. They usually had bell sleeves and were often orange or purple. The ones she got me were ghastly, scratchy nylon and not at all sexy

Ours were really pretty. Orange and purple were popular colours back in the 70s.

They were indeed but these creations had to be seen to be believed. I was a walking fire hazard

Health and safety wasn't much of a thing back then.

I had a stunning array of night wear purchased by my mother. Etched into my memory is a three piece, brushed bri-nylon affair in red and navy. Wide leg trousers, square shaped top and jacket. Most attractive.

Red and navy were popular too.

The static from nylon nightwear and bedsheets was so annoying. My nightdress used to end up around my waist and my pyjama legs around my knees.

I did love my red nightdress with red polka dots on the white frilly trim and handkerchief sleeves.

I wore it to a birthday party once
