I used to go food shopping in Liptons on a Thursday night with my parents as a young child.

Remember taking the corona bottles back to get money back on them.

Their head office was in Prestatyn of all places

They disappeared into Somerfield

I haven't seen one in donkeys. Gateway became somerfield, they took over Kwik Save and that shop shut down then not too long after that the local Somerfield became a Morrisons. That was back in the naughties I think.

According to Wiki, Somerfield was taken over by Co-op in 2011 and re-branded

I'm guessing as part of that re-brand some stores were closed and the properties sold to other retailers or leases ended

Co-operative group has a huge property portfolio and not just in shops

We had a hardware store called Dentons near us growing up ... it was just like the hardware shop from the The Two Ronnie's four candles sketch ... they all wore brown coats! And it sold green shield stamps

Tandy, I got my first decent rc car from them when I was a kid.

Mum always used to drag us to do the weekly shop with my nanna at pioneer supermarket and nanna would always treat us to lunch in the cafe.
