Online Harms Bill

As the new Online Harms Bill will become law before long, how will sites like this operate? Will we all need to show our personal ID to be able to join?

How long it might take to hit the statute books isn’t clear but the government has a large majority in parliament so, failing major public uproar and/or mass opposition within its own ranks, the Online Safety Bill has a clear road to becoming law.

"VPNs will become popular "

This time VPN's wont matter

The bill states:

It will have powers to sanction companies that fail in the new duty of care toward users by hitting them with fines of up to £18 million or 10% of annual global turnover (whichever is higher).

Any good VPN has they head base in county’s that don’t have any treteds with the contrys they operate in can’t sanction a company based in China that’s brakeing laws outside China as long as they not brakeing any Chinese laws hence how companies can’t go after fake goods

The new Bill will only affect UK internet based internet companies. it's a UK government bill. But there is also mention that if UK Broadband providers such as BT, Sky, Virgin etc continue to host overseas adult sites without age checks, they will also be fined.

That’s a matter for them. Or they could change the site name to fab motorbikes or something.

But the company is possibly registered here. If so wouldn't matter where the servers are.

Ah I thought it would be at ISP level. Any company would just move server location nowadays. As it is easy

Never realized it was that stupid.
