"Did they do anything other than run about? Did anything happen that made you think she had no control? No recall on the dogs? Were you in an off leash area? If so should you be prepared for dogs being off leash? Are you Essex Tom in disguise?! ![]() Certainly they were way ahead of her to have any immediate response should they mail a deer or something. Who is Essex Tom?

"I mean, that's a lot of dogs for sure, but running around and barking is... Kinda what dogs do ![]() Area of scientific interest. Plenty of wildlife. I see it often at the beach when owners casually let them chase wading and feeding birds.

"We all assume others think and react like us so dog owners assume everyone will like their dogs or want to listen to them barking. The world is an ever smaller place and people by and large are inconsiderate of others and selfish. I'm a dog lover and had a GSD for many years. I'm not bothered by dogs running up to me (except when I'm running as that seems to trigger some) but it still irritates me that people let it happen. It's unlikely that saying anything will make the slightest bit of difference. Someone with that many dogs probably sees them as her kids and will react the same as many parents when you criticise the behavoir of their children. Mr" Yeah I absolutely get that some people are scared of dogs, and mine doesn't run up to anyone unless they call him over. He's only a year old so his recall isn't perfect yet (it's pretty solid, just not always), but I've never had an issue with him. Definitely don't agree about the barking though. I'm a big believer that dogs (and every other animal) has every bit as much right as we do to be on this planet, and to act as naturally as possible given the constraints we place on the world around us. Why shouldn't he be allowed to bark if he's excited? Why can't he run and explore? He's a living creature with thoughts, feelings, and curiosities about the world he lives in. Not a chance in hell am I going to tie him to the end of a rope unless I absolutely have to - whether for his safety or other people's. That's not to say I'd sit in a pub garden with a dog that barks continuously, because yes, absolutely that's different and irritating. But out in the countryside, I say let dogs be dogs.

"If I’m out with my dog and there’s people jogging past I make her sit and wait so she doesn’t trip them up or get in the way - no way I want some sweaty jogger falling over my Princess ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hah, yeah my dog's an idiot. He has this... Sixth sense. He knows *exactly* where the worst place to be is, and puts himself right there. No idea how, but most of the time he doesn't even notice the fast moving people in brightly coloured clothing ![]() ![]()

"The biggest problem is that the dog walker doesn't know how members of the public react to dogs. They could be terrified of them. She may be confident that she could control them but if someone is scared of dogs they need to see the dogs fully under control. My dog is very obedient and I very rarely have her on a lead but always call her to heal when I meet others whilst out walking as you never know." I'm that member of the public. Maybe not terrified, but anxious around strange dogs. And seeing control is very important. Many's the time I've had a dog jumping up at me, and I tell the owner I'm not good with dogs only for the owner to think it's some kind of joke and amble towards me seeing 'oh s/he's fine'. Secure the dog first, then let's have the conversation, please x

"Many dog owners make assumptions that ; everyone loves dogs... Everyone likes them in the way... Everyone is OK Treading in their mess..they are animals right? They have to shit? And you have to be on with it... Jumping up at clean clothes... Awww they are all lovely... No they aren't for some people. I've spent 12 years clearing dog poo from playing fields so that kids can play sports on them... One of them was blinded from getting it in their eye and the infection led to blindness poor kid. So.. Like many things we all choose to do.. A bit more awareness of other people is very much needed in some cases. " We can swap out dog for kid in each and every one of these scenarios

He looked vacant as if they weren’t doing anything wrong but I heard him say … hey … leave them alone!! I despair about some parents like I despair about some dog owners. Dogs need guidance on what’s expected of them and you reinforce the good behaviour with treats and correct the bad behaviour - some dog owners think that means smacking …. Actually I can feel a massive rant coming on so I’m going to shut up ![]() ![]()
