Hi, I love wild camping I’ve dine a fair not in the UK

But I’m really after some memorable spots.

I found one myself near the adapts of Glomach on the shores of the little loch calledLoch na Leitreach, there’s an old fallen down ruin of a Croft cottage.

But I’d love ideas for others if you’re willing to share your tranquil spots!

It's something I've only done a few times when I was younger. Absolutely loved it though. Miles better than a campsite because you actually feel part of your own little world away from everything.

Lake District is fantastic. It's an unwritten rule that you can kind of get out of sight and camp up on the mountains. As long as you don't leave a mess and aren't there all day I don't think anyone minds.

I think you have to be above any constructed walls as otherwise you are camping on someone's land.

I love the freedom of wild camping. I feel much safer on my own in a tent in the middle of nowhere than I do walking around my home town.

I've even had a Fab wild camp!

Someone who used to be on Fab sends me photos of places he's staying in Europe.

Some are remote and wild, by lakes, in mountains and by the sea.

In one country there were little shacks in the mountains you could use,that were furnished.

Think that was Norway.

It's all someone's land and technically not allowed without permission of the land owner but as you say, pitch up late and leave early.

Even if you intend to sleep in the same spot the next night still pack up. Others go to the fells for their wild beauty and don't want them looking like a campsite plus people will copy. Many who see your tent won't be bothered with the leave no trace ethic hence the massive problem in the Lakes (and elsewhere) with campers leaving an awful mess - as with everything else it only takes a few arseholes to ruin something for everyone else.

Someone mentioned Quiraing above, beautiful spot but very busy (as is everywhere on Skye within a 30 min walk from a road), again get there late and leave early and you'll avoid the crowds.

My favourite area of Scotland is Torridon and up into Fisherfield Forest and Assent. Beautiful wild country and very very remote.

Something I do a lot in the North West of Scotland, plenty areas friendly to campers. Last time was up near Ardelve.

Technically you are allowed to camp anywhere unenclosed. Although loch lomond has bylaws and specific camping sites as it gets busy-ish. There isn’t many areas with bylaws so a quick google will tell you. Just leave it as best you found it, cut dead wood if you need to cut any. Leave at least a quarter of anything you forage etc.

Would be nice to take a fellow fabber out there.

Equally good dark skies in Romania (Carpathian mountains). Dogs were a bit of a problem, though.

I have a motorbike, and enjoy packing up the bike to head off into the wilds with my tent and gear. Some great roads off the NC500.

That's why the falls of Glomach get relative few visitors despite being the highest falls in the UK- they're in the middle of nowhere.

This exact reason it was a bank holiday weekend. I think I saw 10 people all that weekend!

It was sheer bliss, carried everything I needed for that time, felt like I was back in, carrying all that weight

Been wild camping for years as Dartmoor is pretty close to me. Some cracking little spots on the norther side of the southwest coast path giving you stunning sea views. Also exmoor the quantock and Brendon hills.

Anyone heading to the south west camping give me a shout.

Life’s church , a deep cavern

Cave at the summit of Cadair Idris

Shooting lodge on the moors near Buxton, famous for wild campers even has supplies, beer and a guestbook

Top of Jacob’s ladder before summit of Kinder, sine nice shielded spots

Middle of bleaklow moor between snake pass and ladybower , it’s so remote

RAF Crash site off snake pass, lots of poppies left by campers

I’ve wild camped on the Little Orme in Llandudno. And at Aber Falls (they have a gin distillery there too).

I’ve also wild camped just under Walla Crag in the Lakes and that view was stunning.

On top of Helvellyn (well the lake just underneath).

Another spectacular place was Gaping Gill in the Yorkshire Dales....that was truly me alone with nature. It was the clearest night and there must have been a million stars in the sky...it was incredible.

Not last year but the New Year’s Eve prior i wild camped at Malham Tarn. I woke up to the first sunrise of the year and I have a split picture hanging over my bed of it. It’s a beautiful reminder of being at one with nature...

The park wardens are clamping down on wild camping in the Peak District in recent weeks. Using thermal imaging cameras. So, best avoid the popular spots like Stanage and Bamford edges

There’s also a website called Nearly Wild Camping that lists land owners that allow wild camping on their land. It’s £20 a year to join the site.

I have just a rather delightful week in North Norfolk and the seclusion was amazing. I can’t wait to go back and explore more and might even dabble in a bit of stealth camping as well.

years ago when I was lightly fitter - I walked helvellyn via striding edge [ highly recommended ] and knew then that I wanted to wildcamp.

so far haven't had the opportunity go back - hoping to find a lass to go with though xx

Scotland’s the place to be. Just pop on a train to Glasgow then there’s loads of rural routes. Get off and walk away into the darkness. I go walkabout and set up a hammock when happy to sleep, drink the tarn water and eat oats and boil in the bags and whatever plants I find.

The fells in the north west of the lakes, just south of cockermouth. Pick the right one and you get a view over the Irish Sea, the Scottish mountains and the lakes, plus you get the sunset and sunrise about 6 hours apart

Close to you I’d recommend the summit of Win Hill. If it’s raining or snowing you can walk down a few minutes into the woods abs sleep under the trees. A few of us camp there Fridays usually in June around the longest day, other good ones not to far are Ludds Church and the RAF crash site just off snake pass, you often meet other wild campers there it’s quite popular

I’ve seen a few on Winn hill when I’ve done early walks up there… great views and ludds church is a great walk

"Not long back YouTube started recommending wild camp videos, so I’ve been watching a few. Must admit it’s not something I’ve done since I was in the Army but I enjoyed it then.

So it’s certainly something I am looking at currently

No such thing as a ‘lie in’ when on exercise

You weren’t REME then?

They built bridges from their Lego sets, then sit around for the rest of the day drinking tea.

Infantry, cannon fodder, we only got a brew when we shot something or blew it up. Lego bridges were my specialty

I have camped in some of the forests around Lake Windermere which was amazing to wake up to. The rest of the places have kind of been said..
