Pro-active Complaining

Are you a pro-active complainer? Do you write letters or ring the helpline to complain when something isn't quite satisfactory?

I had a strawberry milkshake once from co-op. It was in date but had somehow spoiled. The shop was too far away to return to so i did email a complaint. They sent me a shopping voucher for £5.

Whilst bored working from home during lockdown. I wrote to a well known savoury snack company as their product has an email address on the bag that has simply “say hi” above it.

They sent me a box full of every flavour and a shopping bag for simply saying hi! I then tried this with most of the goods in my cupboard and ended up with free pesto and a box of sweets.

Told my work mates and they tried and got fuck all.

I once complained via email about the size of tracker bars compared to the box they're in. Got a £5 voucher in response.

I also absolutely love reading other people's hilarious complaint letters you sometimes see getting shared about.

It depends how much it affects me I suppose, I know a lady who complains at almost anything for the sake of it and she gets free stuff all the time, it's cringeworthy at times and I definitely won't go out shopping with her

If it is a local shop or service, I mail head office, then hand a printed copy to the shop. I have found in the past that head office doesn't always share the compliment to the people who have provided the good service.

If things have been good I wi usually say so... Often asking for a manager to make sure I tell them what was good and why. On the other hand the pointless reviews you see for online experiences like amazon... 5 star review...

"I bought something and paid for it... . It was packaged, It arrived 3 days later in the post only slightly damaged, luckily found it behind the wheelie bin.... Amazing service 5 stars"

I had a friend once who was a professional complainer. She received vouchers on an almost daily basis so it did work. She was very odd though...

That's a good idea.

I've forwarded positive feedback to colleagues at work because I know their boss won't let them know.

Oh most definitely, if i have a meal and its below par,for instance when they come and say 'how was your meal' ill say 'the *** wasnt great but that aside it was faultless'. (Constructive)

However if i have a product thats shit... the emails are sent!

I will always complain about very bad service. But I also compliment good service.

My best was a £100 Virgin Trains voucher. I must have had a very thick file in their admin....

Depends how put out by it I am. A spoiled milkshake wouldn't put me out much so probably wouldn't complain about that.

I've done it on behalf of someone else after reorleated bad service and being made to make multiple trips to a store. Got them vouchers as a result and I got a bunch of flowers as a thank you

I tend to weigh up how much stress and time the issue will take to resolve against the rewards of doing so. If it's too time consuming/stressful with little gain should I win then I will leave it

The last time I complained about something wasn't to get free stuff it was because I was really upset.

I wrote to nestle and complained that the toffee crisp yogurt hasn’t been around since the 90’s and would it ever come back. They wrote back saying there wasn’t enough demand for it but would monitor feedback to see if it’s something they would do again. They sent me a multipack of 4 toffee crisp chocolate bars.

Actually if anyone has time could they just fire off an email to nestle and say they want the toffee crisp yogurts back.
