Is getting skipped in the forum feeds the Fab equivalent of being the last person picked in PE?

We all love the game threads (don’t we)? ‘Send a pick to the above’, ‘would you rather… the above’

So you play along, fab, send pic, comment… only for the person above to then

and suddenly you’ve been skipped and missed out on half the fun.

Do I sound bitter, most likely, but it happens regularly. Or is it just me?

Don’t participate in those games because they’re somewhat private for the people on here that already know one another.

Better off getting to know people and chat in other threads.

These “what would you do with the person above” make no sense because they’re all strangers to me. But if your “in the club” they can be fun

It happens to all of us at times.

Sometimes it’s purely because two people comment at the same time, and so yours gets lost.

It also takes a while for people to get to know you, but it’ll happen.

I don't partake in those games very often so I can't say I've experienced it very often.

Feeling a bit meh about constantly being skipped over is crap though - if it's a general forum thread it's not deliberate but those ones?

I think a lot of users get excited and want to comment on the woman they perceive to be hot a few posters above or joke around with their friends. It's rubbish but try and frame it as just being a game for some horny adults who haven't been outside properly for a year.

Don’t feel bad about it. As much a “public” forum this is it’s basically private as in there’s a bunch of people that live on here, all know eachother and it’s just inside jokes/flirting you can’t join in with.

The discussion threads are best because they value thoughtful comments over flirty banter

Yeah it happens. I don't tend to join those threads, but occasionally I do and getting missed out is just par for the course. Being the weird hippy kid who was rubbish at sport as a child meant I was often picked last and I suppose it can feel a little reminiscent of that, but only when I'm feeling low in confidence for other reasons. Normally it's not a problem.

I must admit I'm starting to avoid those kinds of threads now too. For the same reasons as others have said, as well as the feeling of being missed out.

But I took a step back and have myself a talking to over feeling negative about not being mentioned - yes, on one level it sucks but at the same time this is just an internet forum, not real life, and there are more important things to worry about in the grand scheme of things

This place is very cliquey anyway and that comes across in the forums. Also as a single guy you just have to get used to being ignored on here, it’s par for the course unfortunately, in my experience anyway. Sorry to put a downer on it lol

I gave up on those kind of threads mate, because you’re quite correct, mostly they’re for the ‘in crowd’, but also blokes tend to skip other men to chase women they fancy, and couples skip blokes to chase couples they fancy, so the fun of the thread game loses out to sexual attraction

I was always picked last in PE unless it was rugby then I was always picked first

The one time my size worked for me. Having a dad that was the star of the local rugby team did help

If you are commenting after a hot girl then the likelihood is you and 10 guys are going to reply and therefore you’ll get overlooked.

Those type of games are always going to turn into chaos because every guy wants to respond to a woman and not another man.

On normal type threads, people will tend to either reply to a known person or an interesting comment. Say enough interesting things and you’ll start getting noticed.

Think you are getting over looked and therefore don’t comment, then you’ll just fade into the background.

I comment for me really...I don’t really care so much whether that comment gets replied to or ignored. I’ve said what I wanted to on the thread

Agree with this. Generally I comment on things that I have an opinion on & want to voice it, whether or not others agree, or disagree, or appreciate my input, is irrelevant really. I am unapologetically myself.

You aren't being overlooked on purpose. Join in with discussion threads and just be yourself & you will slowly build your own little network of familiar forumites.

I think valuing your self esteem sometimes means protecting it by not doing things that might damage it.

Even the strongest, most confident of people will feel bad about constant (perceived) rejection. I say perceived because it's not 'you' being passed over, it's a representation of you in a virtual game

Bear in mind that the forums are contributed to by a tiny minority of fab members and those threads a tiny percentage of those contributors.

Happens all the time and it's the nature of the forums.

I rarely get fabs or winks through those threads and in the ask in private threads 99 percent of questions come from those on my friends list.

There will always be those who join threads with no intention of taking part but are happy to be fabbed and winked by others.

I used to take it personally when my forum comments were ignored but even though it still happens I persevere and don't let it put me off posting.

I’m glad you used the term “used” to take it personally this site in the scheme of actually life is nothing ! To much time and stress is based on social media it’s crazy to me !

Try not to take anything to heart. Consider that you’ll never engage nevermind meet the vast majority of people on the site. Its really just some randomers posting shite online, in the main. There’s many more fulfilling things to do in life.
