Got a message of my manager today confirming that plans are a foot to bring us back into the office.

They have been planting the seeds for a while, I don't want to go back.

Over 2 hours travelling a day and the expense.

I'm happy at home!

Did I mention the 4 buses a day also!

I was office based the first lockdown.

Who's going back into work?

Who's gone back?

If you've gone back, is it good to be back?

I think I’ll be working from home for a long time yet. Lockdown has proven it can be done effectively. I miss the business travel and hotels though.

Nothing confirmed for us yet but I do miss the office and seeing everyone.

I think working from home has lost its lusture and I'm starting to get distracted very easily although it luckily hasn't affected my work.

I wouldn't mind 2 days at home and 3 days at the office

One of the major things about lockdown was the lack of trafffic and better air quality. People should be able to work flexibly/from home. Hope it happens for you.

I think it depends on the person. I wasn't infatuated with working from home at the start but got used to it. Some have adapted better than others so I think those that have adapted well should be allowed to work from home full time if they wish

We’ve stayed open but given the option to work from home. Because T is/was CEV I worked completely from home from March until July then again from Christmas to March. I now do 2 days a week in the office & 3 at home. It’s a great balance & we’re so much more productive. My commute is only 3 miles though - T’s is about an hour each way.

Been WFH since March last year, they did start letting people into the office during the summer. But that was stopped with the next lockdown.

They're talking about letting people back in only if you can't WFH. For the rest of us it'll be a lot longer & then only part time in the office.

I do miss some parts of office life but don't miss the commute. Was 70 miles and over 2 hours a day.

I am slowly returning to life back on the road but it has been recognised that we have achieved a work life balance we did not have before. Therefore, it’s a mixture of home based and field based working as we chose, and however it works for each of us.

We have also had a change during covid so I’m going back in with a new role and a new area. Looking forward to Norfuck!

. I am a civil servant and I have been working in the office since April 2020.In order to work from home you need to have a space you can work from which I do and you need to have WiFi which I don’t as I can get by with the data on my phone and tablet.I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology which is one of the reasons I prefer to be in the office.I found out today that as of next week because of a lack of front facing desks with regards to staying 2 metres apart a lot of the staff will be working from home for at least the next 6 weeks. I can understand your reservations and if you can do your job effectively at home then your employer should allow you to do that.

I have been back in London a couple of days a week and have noticed it getting busier by the week.

I have enjoyed some aspects of it. Equally the annoying people I am less tolerant of.

I should be able to do a mix of WFH and office from now on. I have proved I can be trusted to work from home too. Some I work with lack discipline.

I work in an industry that relies on people being in the office though so it is a catch 22 situation with the WFH/return to office conundrum.

I don't think it will be too long before the government brings in legislation to require employers to have to consider a wfh option, maybe as part of the working time directive. Just as they legislated the requirement to allow a carryover of upto 4 weeks leave for upto 2 years. Doesn't mean employers will have to allow it, but they will have to consider it, and offer good reasons if not.
