"Nothing over the counter. The mirena coil stops them completely though. Suffered for a decade before i had one fitted." Oh wow I never knew the coil would help, that may be worth looking into then x

"I know it's hard to speak to your GP at the moment, but this is one where you really should. If nothing else, be mindful of your iron levels, that level of flow might contribute to anaemia." Thank you I have been feeling so run down lately and I'm wondering myself if this could be the cause x

"Thank you, the dr is only doing phone consultations at the moment and they don't give a time which makes it impossible whilst at work through the week I've tried feminax helps with the pains but not the heaviness " Ohhh ok Some pharmacies have online doctors that will probably work better for than unpredictable phone consultations. You can probably interact with one when you finish work best of luck hun xxx

I'll get some iron pills tonight and try the online pharmacy option tomorrow. Life savers

"Mine are heavy at the moment to the point I often have to change bedsheets. I do get anaemic so I'm taking iron in the form of a spray. As the tables cause me extra stomach pain and constipation which at that time of the month makes things ten times worse. I've found buscopan helps ease some the cramping. " Brilliant thank you I think the spray would work better for me too x

"Thank you so much I've been intrigued about the menstrual Cup.. but have been unsure at this point I will try anything so will have a look what they have online. Thank you x" The cups were a godsend for me before I had my hysterectomy. But you should definitely pursue getting a referral to a gynaecologist to see if there is an underlying issue. It's not pleasant to live with x

"OK I'm sorry to post here but I'm at my wits end. I need some advice from the ladies regarding 'monthlies' Are there any home remedies or over counter medicals for heaviness that have been tried and tested? I'm using maximum night time sanitary products during the daytime and still having to change every 2 hours Again sorry to post here but its really getting me down." I’m going to sound totally dumb now but isn’t that normal? I have to change every hour on day 1 and every couple of hours on day 2 and didn’t think it was a problem health wise... I thought everyone did.

" Does it not come up in conversation during your smear test? although mine done by a nurse, after that discussion I was referred to the GP. I said confused why, don’t get pain, just heavy and tiredness; response let’s just check, turns out low in iron (so on pills) and still awaiting pelvic scan. Give your gp or practice nurse a call and have a chat x

"Raspberry leaf tea and cinnamon tea is used for heavy bleeding and toning the uterus." yes natural stuff can do wonders. A good Oregano infusion or chamomile tea are very recomendable too.

As soon as I said it I thought why the fuck am I asking that! I don’t remember her asking anything about my periods though. I looked through the list of low iron and I defo match a few including the brittle nails (behind my acrylics I have done to hide it), pale skin (behind the tinted body cream I put on), I get light headed and dizzy a lot too. Il defo give the GP a call tomorrow. Thanks! X

"Be careful with herbal supplements, if it is something like adenomyosis then raspberry leaf tea is not recommended. It’s important to check contraindications, even in natural remedies. " ^^^This. Raspberry leaf tea can actually be harmful, as can other supplements. See a GP and ask for the tests already described to rule out fibroids etc and ask for referral to hospital gynaecology. Take it from there
