"Definitely the Fork handles sketch. I love the Monty Python films too, especially Life of Brian. Some of Billy Connolly's early stuff is a bit close to the edge but he never means to offend and he's absolutely hilarious to the point that I cry laughing x " you should read his book tall stories and wee tales, its brilliant

"We like all sorts of humour. Obviously I’m of an age though so I still find monty python timeless and love a bit of dark humour like the league of gentlemen. Which I didn’t get the first time around. Or the office. Now I find them hilarious. I want to subject Lu to life of Brian and similar. But don’t imagine she’ll get it J " You definitely need to introduce her to it, and let us know the outcome

"I really enjoy listening to a lot of classic comedy on Radio4_Extra, as well as old sitcoms on TV, but some of it really hasn't aged well at all. And some I just don't find funny at all. But I suppose humour is always subjective Granted topical comedy will only ever have a certain shelf life, but does comedy always become dated or is at least some of it timeless? For example the Morecambe & Wise Mr Preview sketch never fails to make me laugh, and Porridge was sublime. Yet I can't find anything funny in The Navy Lark. And I didn't understand The League Of Gentlemen on TV until I heard it on the radio and then it somehow made sense. What does everyone else think, and what are your favourite comedies or comedy moments?" I like the Navy Lark and Round The Horn. The Men From The Ministry is another, but I don’t find a lot of The Goons stuff that listenable too. Currently I quite enjoy the one about house mates with Angus Deaton as one of the characters and the one about the three sisters with Josie Lawrence. The Dads Army ones have a subtle difference when recorded specifically for the wireless as do the Steptoe episodes.
