I’ve decided to try and start a friendly community for geeks. All welcome, no fighting.

Tech geeks

Comic geeks

If you consider yourself a geek then come say hi.

I’ll start.

Computer/tech geek. I can program, code, and build computers and websites. I’m currently creating an app that’s going to make me a millionaire this time next year rodders

Saying that though, mobile phones are my real niche.

More of a history and engineering geek. I don't class myself a tech geek because although I'm into electronics technology it tends to be 1980s and before that floats my boat. Hense why I was an electronics engineer in of previous career. My passion looking after legacy equipment. There's something rewarding and satisfying about pulling something apart and diagnosing a fault down to a capacitor, resistor or chip etc. I have no intrest in messing around with software. Don't ask me about the lasted Ibone and what it's apps can do, I wouldn't have a clue or be interested.

Really rubbish with tech

I am a comic film geek, and although not read the comics (dont shoot me) I have spent alot of time researching the backgrounds of characters I like.

Sci-fi films too.

Also sort of a history geek, I love royal history and most things victorian era

If there is such thing as a horror geek, it is me.

Anything remotely horror and not just films. This can be clothing, ghost stories/tours, books, decor and ornaments etc, I love it all.

I think that covers it

Ok where to start...ok, at the beginning.

I watched Star Trek when it was on BBC1 in the 1970s.

I watched Blake's Seven, Tomorrow People, Sapphire and Steel and Dr Who.

I read Marvel before it was cool (1970s), Savage Sword of Conan got me into fantasy, I read Conan, Lord of the rings, Shannara. I've read 2000AD from prog 1 and still do.

I've read A Song of Ice and Fire, Joe Abercrombie, Mark Lawrence, Pratchett, Peter F Hamilton.

I still watch Trek, The Expanse, Marvel.

Yeah, I Am Geek.

"I’ve decided to try and start a friendly community for geeks.

You'd probably be interested in my collection of 40,000 ish dc, marvel and independent comics then.

I've also been writing software since before the first x86 cpu was designed, including creating my own realtime operating systems (plural), writing graphical display libraries, doing low level ethernet packet message exchange systems, getting two computers on different floors at university to talk to each other via serial ports before ethernet was invented, designing special purpose programming languages...

I'm not just a pretty face lol

oh god i wish i had the space to get into massive lego builds

Ohhh, they're not massive. I want a star destroyer but yeah right!!

i had a mate once that had a massive like 3 ft long star destroyer, i will forever be jealous"

One of my favourite possessions is my lego super star destroyer - at just over 4ft long its obscene. If you hunt around on aliexpress you can pick one up for around £100. Although I actually think the Ultimate Collector Series Star Destroyer is actually a bit more interesting and hope to get one soon

Now, I think I'll get back to painting my Mando and the Child diorama

Been to a few Trek Cons in full Klingon uniform, head piece, beard and skin tone. Been to Starfleet Ball in Bournemouth few times, another in Manchester and couple in Glasgow (Scottish Kligons know How to throw a party).

At one if the Glasgow cons a group of Klingons put Armin Shimmerman (Quark) in one of those big trollies hotels us3 for moving laundry around and ransomed him back to the con with money going to charity. Shimmerman took it in good spirit and gave some money himself.
