I sure do love pale ales and real ales, love trying different ones from different micro pubs, I've tried blondes that were incredibly nice and tried different flavoured real ales like pecan psychosis, ice cream flavour, popcorn and chillies flavoured too.

Also a big fan of Iron maidens "trooper" ale that's got quite a taste to it.

You need to visit the UK, and taste some proper brews

I'm pretty sure Newcastle Brown ales get sold in America too... if you havent tried a Newcastle brown yet they're absolutely gorgeous, they were pretty much a routine/tradition before any night out... a nice ice cold pint of brown it has a distinctive unique taste.

I disagree, doing an 'IPA' has become very trendy leading to many takes on it.

We've come so far since I was a teen and your standard choice of ale was either a pint of Worthingtons cream flow, John Smiths or possibly a Brew XI. Traditional hand pull and/or daught ale or craft beer is pretty much behind every bar these days.
