what are the most terrible cover versions?

for me as a smiths fan their songs should just be left alone, it never ends well

notably t.a.t.u covering "how soon is now" just no!!

any suggestions?

In the past some cover versions were better than the original. I'm thinking Patti Smith-because the night (Bruce Springsteen song) Tina Turner- Proud Mary ( Creedence Clearwater Revival song)

But all they do now is ruin a perfectly good song

Maldon

A very current one - One More Cup of Coffee by Tom Jones.

Not knocking Tom and his amazing voice but most Bob Dylan covers are better than the original. Poor choice.

Oasis covered Bowie's Heroes. It's as bad as bad can be.

Britney Spears' "I can't get no satisfaction"

It sounds like a failed frustrating masturbation attempt

Depends, by terrible you mean actually bad, regardless of being a cover. Or in comparison to the original? In the case of the latter it then comes down to is it not just familiarity with the original artist more than it being bad?

Secret hideaway in the pennines

The worst one ever in my opinion was Telly Savalas's cover of the old bread song If.

If you dont know have a listen

Abercynon-ish

Scissor Sisters covering Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.

Not in the darkest recesses of hell did any of Satan's hell spawn come up with the idea of adding a Bee Gees twist to this song.
