A place near the sea

hiding from cock pics.

In the last year two of my friends have relocated from my countryside area to places on the coast, and there are others thinking of moving also.

If you were to move to the English coast, where would you go and what kind of property would you be looking for?

I personally would absolutely love to live near the coast. Unfortunately due to family situations it it is extremely unlikely to ever happen for me.

My dream home would be near a mostly deserted beach that I could easily see from my house with maybe some kind of patio overlooking it and steps down to the sea.

I would love to be within reasonable travelling distance of Brighton although I also love Devon and Cornwall and also parts of Wales.

I also really like Yorkshire, maybe what I'm saying is any beach would be paradise to me!!!

Do you like the beach and which coast would you choose?

Think I would live on the Isle of Lewis as the beaches look stunning. An old fishermans cottage would suit me just fine.

Exeter

We are lucky to live in Exeter and we have a view all the way to the Exe estuary. However, if we had to move to the coast it would be Ilfracombe, Bude or Appledore.

Yes all sounds wonderful, that fisherman,s cottage would that be beside the sea .don't be fooled , unless you want to sea? Your investment disappear before your eyes, costal erosion is a major factor along the shoreline in many parts of the u.k.

Perpignan and cap

Yes it all sounds idealistic, but you won't get me in an old fisherman's cottage with steps down to the sea. Massive onshore winds, flaked with snow would bite into my bones and I would not last one winter.

Now if you put that cottage on Crete, Sicily or a Greek island I'd visit for a few seasons that's for sure.

Check out the images for Rhossili beach in South Wales..very near to Swansea..there is literally just the one white cottage sitting just up from the sea with an expanse of beach probably around 4 miles long..deserted and on it’s own..that would be my dream place to live

We agree, Rhossili is stunning but ever we moved back we’d love to live at St David’s

I love the Northumberland coast, particularly Embleton Bay, it’s beautiful and never as busy as somewhere like Cornwall. Plus some of my ma’s ashes are scattered there, as a constant reminder.

Love Cornwall.....but no such thing as deserted beaches there.

Llandwyn on Anglesey. Several miles of golden sand accessed through Newborough Warren.....and its Nudist friendly too.

I do love the coast but now that I live there I do yearn for the countryside.

I've found myself living in Cornwall which I think to be honest I may have preferred parts of Devon if I had the choice.

North Bucks

I inherited my Mother’s house abroad but the pandemic and not being able to fly out has made me think about a Uk bolt hole.

In the UK I always thought Cornwall way

But I’m currently sat in an old farm cottage on the North Norfolk coast and I think here is where I’m going to buy a second home/air BnB.

It’s a tiny village with a trout stream at the bottom of the garden and a half mile walk to the most beautiful atmospheric marshes. I can see why they call it big sky country.

Holkham beach five mins away and beautiful other dog friendly beaches nearby. Plus only two and a bit hours from my home.

God it’s lovely being by the sea.

Plenty of deserted beaches in Cornwall from November to March, but you've got to be pretty robust when the weather is rough.

We’re 15 mins from the coast and a few mins from the hamble river. Spend a lot of time down there. With Southampton Water and the Isle of Wight its lovely. A nice chalet bungalow or even beach hut would suit me.

My old padre lives on the mournshire coast, a gorgeous little fisherman’s cottage you can reach the pebbled beach and surf with a few steps.

A little home that wouldn’t look out of place in a magazine in a doctors surgery.

Always be careful buying a property with running water at the end of the garden.

‘River at bottom of garden in the summer,

Garden at bottom of river in the winter’

I live nearby and am lucky enough to be a short walk from the water. However, I would love to live some where more rugged and secluded in the Uk.

I echo the poster abive who mentioned living by sea in the Med. That would be fab but again I would like seclusion.

Portsmouth

We moved from the North West 20 years ago, and have never regretted it. We now have a lovely 3 bed house, overlooking Portsmouth Harbour and the sea. Hubby built a large bar including cocktail part, in the back garden, with firepit and barbecue, even wifi all over. Its fantastic, and we are living the dream. Thinking of doing a party out there this year. A horny party lol. all kids left home now. Xx

Lol. There is a rather worrying stone in the village that simply has the words “Flood” carved into it. But that was the sea which must have been a hell of a surge.

It would be Cornwall or The Gower I think, both places I love. Although I love the old seaside towns with their 3 or 4 storey terraces overlooking the seafront and prom. I could imagaine myself as a stern but caring landlady renting out rooms to the temporarily misplaced.

On a mooch

Although Devon, Cornwall and most of the south coast is lovely the thought of moving from one tourist zone to another doesn’t appeal.

However give me some where away from the hustle & bustle, clear view straight to the sea listening and watching the sea and I’m there, but not somewhere to close to a cliff edge

Hi OP,

I went through that thought process ... and now live near the sea.

There's a naturist beach nearby, I'm close enough to clubs like BGHS, Pleasures and Eurekas, plus not too far from London for gigs etc.

I may have moved during lockdown but it was definitely the right thing to do.

Now I need to start meeting local swingers

(OP been ages since those Milf Club meets!)
