How much did you get as a child. I started of with threepence then moved on to 10p and then 25p and then 35p. Had to make my own money after that. I did get my comics and magazines paid for though

i had to do a paper round before school and at weekends. use to collect dog shit from peoples lawns before using a push mower for extra cash.

dad use to wake me up by running a cold flannel across my face at 4am while i was asleep.

he said it built character, and would prepare me for life.

dunno about that

1 shilling and sixpence on a weekend to go to saturday morning pictures it was sixpence to get in 3p each way for bus and sixpence for sweets to eat in there! If we walked home spent the extra 3p on sweets to! And we had 3p every day for TUC shop at school! Did quite well seeing as there was 5 of us x

None. Didn't get any for doing chores either as my parents had nothing to give, although I did a lot of chores. I got a job as soon as I could to get money.

I used to clean windows from the age of 14 the house I now live in I used to charge 1 shilling and 6 pence I would do five houses on a sat morning and give my mam 5 shillings and I would get 2 and sixpence

I had a £1 a week. Mostly spent on sweets. My brother used to trick me by wanting to swap his coins (value of about 10p) for my £1...by saying "I'll give you these coins, for your one coins" I soon caught on to that one

I got a fiver a week off my dad. I was meant to wash his car in return but in reality that rarely happened.

My mum gave me a tenner but I had to buy clothes and toiletries out of that.

I was pretty flush tbh

Used to get £25 if i washed both the cars though, but that was more like a monthly thing

My granddad would visit every Friday and leave 10p for each of us, when it was our birthday he left us 50p but you know what you could get a lot for 10p in the 60’s-70’s

My pocket money went up by five pence every year on my birthday so at ten I was on fifty pence a week. That wasn't too bad looking back. I got a Saturday job at fifteen and my pocket money stopped.

We used to get a sixpence but Dad would take it back if he 'needed' it.

The thing that was better was not getting the money (which might disappear) but being allowed to order a book from the Puffin Book Club every few months.

I had a Saturday job from the age of 14.

Me and my brothers got 50p everyday for school. I spent mine on finger buns. My brother was clever, he saved his up. My brother used to play a game flip your coin closer to the wall wins he was pretty good at it too.

Never got pocket money.

I was the neighbourhood babysitter from age 12 then I worked as a waitress from 14.

My Mum used to give me the child benefit from age 14 but I had to buy all my clothes, toiletries going out spends etc (except school uniform & winter coats)

If I blew it on a big fashion item then needed new shoes it was tough! Taught me to budget well, which I am forever grateful for.

I don't recall being given any or expecting any but I also had things paid for so didn't go short - then got a paper round from the age of about 11, and weekend/school holiday working at a garden centre when I was a teenager

Didn’t get pocket money as a young kid, but I never went short for a new reading book once a month or a comic or set supplies.

As a teenager was at school, so my time there ranged from 75p to £1.50 a week, most of which went back to parents at end of term as a credit as I hadn’t earned it.

I got sweet money every day, and ice cream from the ice cream man at the weekend in summer.

We didn't have to help around the house, except for washing up after dinner, but I helped in the garden in the summer.

50p a week until I was 9, then I cleaned the house for £5 a week. I had to do it though, if I skipped a day (5 days a week, 1hr after school) I would lose the money.

Strict parenting.

My kids dont really get pocket money but they dont go without stuff either.

I've two sons left at home .one doing his final year. ( the leaving cert). When he taps me for money which isn't very often I'll give him maybe 20/euro, . A month back he hit me for 200/euro for two tickets ,himself and a girl for graduation ball. After messing with him awhile he got that all so. The other son gives me a few days work when I ask .he earns his money so I don't mind. And it gets them away from the bloody play station.

I used to get £5 on a Saturday off one Grampa, used to get £5 off my mother also on a Saturday, and £50 a month off my mum (which I believe was part of the maintenance off my father) and was allowed to go on the train into Swansea or Cardiff with my friends to go shopping.

I used to get 20p pieces that were kept in a 20p piece money 'tube' at my grandad's house.... I used to save mine and saved an amazing (for the time) £13 to take on a family holiday to Denmark!

I used to get 50p/£1 (depending on what my mum had) on a Monday and then when I turned 14 I got a job in a pet shop working on Saturdays and school holidays and was earning £15 a day. I used to do other little bits too like clipping rabbits nails and feeding and checking on pets of people we knew who were on holiday to make extra money too x

30p is the amount I can remember. I had a mushroom house money box and can still recall the sound of the coins when putting them in it. Usually spent it on Roy of the Rovers comic, Warlord or 2000ad.
