Hi fabbers and fabettes

I really enjoy the forums and I try to take part but....I get put off the serious subjects by people's profile pic....I can't engage in something serious if the ops pic is him holding an erect penis or a woman with a gaping hole....so....here it comes..

Should forums pics be blank? Or just blank if its a serious subject? I know im gonna get hate but haters gotta hate....peace x

Serious topics or them just saying 'I'm a serious person'?

I don’t think profile pics should be explicit full stop. I think it’s intrusive, a bit like flashing. I think you should have to choose to see someone naked/intimately.

I can relate to this. I've had some very deep and serious discussions on here all while the avatars are boobs, bums etc which can be strange but then I've also noticed if I'm that immersed in a conversation / debate then I'm not really paying attention to people's avatars apart from knowing who wrote what. I wouldn't like them to all be blank though, that's boring.

I don't think people here should be responsible for your reactions to their (within the rules) profile pictures. Seems a little immature that you can't concentrate due to the presence of a tiny thumbnail detailing a cock / vagina oe whatever...

Prejudices (the literal meaning) are really negative when it comes to interact with people in any form, say virtually or personally. Try no to let yours get in control all the time.

Ridiculous. We're all adults here and those who regularly frequent the forums develop bonds and friendships in the forums.

Even for those who don't quite often it's easier to talk about serious life stuff with strangers.

I get where you're coming from, OP. When I joined fab I never imagined I would find myself participating in occasionally deep and meaningful chats with people! I quite like the incongruity of it It reminds me that there are real people with real thoughts and emotions behind the sexy pics. I like to discuss all sorts of subjects, and I like sex too. But it's an open forum where anything (within the rules) can be talked about so why not? Sometimes threads are started with the intent of being serious but sometimes they just fall that way. Should that be censored or banned?

Genuinely curious because I've started a few pretty serious/ deep threads myself.

I don’t tend to look closely at avatars, I tend to get caught up in reading the thread, and I’m more likely to check the user name, unless it’s a very distinctive and memorable avatar.

It doesn’t make any difference to the subject posted, because I associate that with the person rather than the picture I guess.

I’m not sure I understand why it matters, we’re all people.

My responses aren't meant to make you feel unpopular. They are to further the conversation that you wanted to start.

I am trying to gain an understanding of why you think this way because currently, in my opinion, your response to people who make serious posts but have their intimates on display comes across as somewhat childish. Almost like 'hehe, I can see your peepee'. I am trying to understand why you cannot separate the subject matter from the visual elements of the site.

If someone you knew on here messages you with some struggles but had their tits out would you struggle to reply sensitively?

So there is a site tool available that you can utilise in order to interact with any three you wish to yet you choose to cut yourself off instead of use it?

Have I said he couldn't babe an opinion?

He expressed his distaste at seeing cocks discuss serious mental health issues. A solution was offered but he'd rather be able to say he is being kept out of threads because of it than use a simple, free, solution and making the site feel bad for himself.

He wanted a conversation yet if you try to enter into one he acts as if he is the victim and so misunderstood.

i try but an terrible to keep track of usernames but maybe the fact i am awful at it is a good thing, means more often than not i respond just to what i read on the page rather than base any of it on what i already think of the poster

"So op. Have you looked into the option to hide all site pics as suggested on one of the earlier replies?

No....ill stay away from the serious threads....maybe I've not posted correctly and people haven't understood the point I was making"

i think people understand they just don’t feel the same way

we know what to expect in terms of avatars when joining fab

we know what to expect in terms of conversation on a serious thread

some of us can happily separate the 2 and focus on the conversation while ignoring the images

and some of us can’t and get distracted

i dont think the answer is to censor the site in terms of images or forum content as a whole , we just all got choose what the right option is for ourselves and it sounds like you may have decided avoiding serious threads is what is right for you

I just came back to add that I tried to assess myself and no I never felt like this. Ill turn that back.. I wouldn't have a clear face as profile pic. Yet it doesn't bother me that others chose to openly embrace being here. kudos to you. The ultimate goal of the website is embracing your sexuality, no? Whether you meet someone or not. I don't want that to be separate to forum version of me.

"Just don't look at their profile pic if it's getting serious is all I can suggest.

It's a adult site at the end of the day and it's full of exhibitionists"

Its the balance of a graphic pic posting about a very serious subject...it detracts from the seriousness of the thread...in my eyes anyway...no problem if its a thread about pizza topping but when its a thread about abuse or mental health struggles then for me and probably only me it seems,it just dents the serious nature of the post....

Seeing a graphic pic as a profile pic doesn’t really change how I interact on a post as a whole, I don’t think. But I’m not sure how seriously I could take someone when the only piece of them I can see is genitalia.

I just see them as the ultimate unsolicited dick/pussy pic. I don’t think they’re polite, I do find them disrespectful. I appreciate that not everyone feels the same way though. It doesn’t upset me or anything as someone suggested to OP above. I think I see the forum on Fab slightly differently to the meeting side of the site. I find it impolite on the meeting side, I find it even more impolite here.

Thankfully, someone has finally asked this question. The amount of times someone has an explicit profile pic and commenting on a serious subject matter. It’s just off putting. I suppose a way round it would be to have a kind of emoticon as an alternative to a profile pic. Possibly for site supporters only as a way to fund it. Though people could just change the profile pic with something with, I don’t know. Clothed.

It’s all linked though. The profile shows in all areas of the site. I agree with you though and know exactly what you mean. I don’t know whether it’s appropriate for people to have explicit pics in the forum when conversations are often of a serious nature.

At the end of the day, it's just a photo and shouldn't make someone come across less serious unless it's a silly photo.

I sometimes have everything on show but it doesn't change my ability to hold a serious conversation.

Maybe they should just make it so you can't see explicit pics if do want to.

Surly can't be hard to implement as plenty of other sites do it.

You can flip it around and say some people might find it uncomfortable to see these serious type threads on a adult only site.

It don’t bother me what posts people or make or what profile pic they have but like others have suggested if it bothers you then turn off pics when you are on the forums problem solved .

I find the explicit pics very off putting in direct messaging, but not on the forums as there are so many comments that I don't tend to even notice the pictures.

Now that I know there's a way of blocking the forum pictures, If it did start to distract me then I'd make that change for myself rather than wanting others to change something that bothers me.

Should forums pics be blank? Or just blank if its a serious subject? I know im gonna get hate but haters gotta hate....peace x

This indicates your point was about censorship on the forums to help you deal with your issue of being able to compute serious subject matter with x rated pics.

You've had the available solution put to you but you gave openly said you won't use it, instead you will simply curtail your forum experience and not go onto serious threads.

That is of course your perogative but it seems a little restrictive.

I’ve thought similar things and posted questions about it in the past.

It’s just one of those vagaries of fab and the forums specifically. It’s not unusual to be discussing the finer points of semantics with an erect member or mental health with a pair of breasts.

I guess I’m a little desensitised to it. It’s also important to remember that people can be and are many things at the same time, so why not naked and discussing philosophy?
