Big hugs all around

I'm feeling pretty low at the moment.

A little lonely and also scared as I've got to go back to hospital next week for an endoscopy to see if they can finally figure out what is wrong with me

Can't say I'm looking forward to the results.

I’m in this boat. Been single for three years now with no real prospective partners.

I live with my brother which has been really handy during the pandemic and resulting lockdowns etc. I’ve been lucky enough to have worked all the way through too which has kept me in some form of normal routine and seeing people but when I’m at home I do miss having someone I can be affectionate with.

I’ve found it really difficult to meet someone around my own age. Tried the online dating thing but to no avail and I’m not really on here to meet someone long term (would be nice if it happened tho).

I don’t really know where to turn next, I guess I’ve kind of given up and I’m just waiting for someone to find me.

There’s only been a few replies to this post so far but it seems like I’m not the only one in this kinda situation. I’m always here to talk if anyone feels lonely, that goes for everyone, guys and gals. : )

Here is something a bit positive for you.

With your msg I don't think there is a single person anywhere right now feeling any different than you.

Same. The odd thing is that I’m struggling to get excited about life returning, and that seems silly. I should be looking forward to dating again. I’ve been out with a few friends and every time I do it’s been great, but I really have to give myself a talking to to get out of my pjs and go.

Evening all. Its been a tough year for us all and we all have different struggles, all we can do is take each day as a new day, be mindful of our thoughts, keep a gratitude journal. Reach out to friends or neighbours its amazing what a text or a kind word can do from someone else.

I found lockdown since Xmas extremely hard , thankful I've been working all along but find the times when I'm home alone , it's hard at times not having someone to talk to or reach out.

But I'm hopeful for the future, the dinner dates and nights away I've planned with friends etc

So stay strong and reach out if you need to talk

I’m alone and no issues with that.... I can agree with myself, but I’ve been wobbling lately.... I’m normally exceptionally happy and the one being positive, but lately I find it hard to motivate myself..... I know we’ve been through a lot lately snd I’m so thankful for what I have but sometimes I cry.... and feel so sad for no reason.... so I’m here if anyone ever needs a chat I’m a message away xx

In case you need it:

Sadness is not competitive. Just because there are ‘others worse off’ it doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to feel down. You don’t need to look on the bright side or be glass half full, it’s ok to want to throw the glass against the wall.

I hate:

Keep your chin up

Things can only get better

Lots of people worse off

Et al. I know all that.

But when I am down they do nothing but wind me up. Just a simple hug is better. A bit of time with someone. Even just being told they will be with me through it.

Great thread. Good to see people opening up

I've been struggling more than I have cared to admit. Today I have realised that I have lost my way and feeling pretty overwhelmed and anxious. Starting a new job has not helped, it is long hours and I'm exhausted by it. I know I need to give it time but damn

Everything just feels like effort

Tottally agree with you there yes this is a sex site, but to me this is all about being friends, first and foremost the rest can or maybe cannot happen for numerous reasons, but we are friends.

I have some friends from swinging when I was on another site eons ago, and we are still fiends to this day albeit we don't see each other a lot but we are always there for each other if ever one of us needs a chat or a call x

Great thread OP

I’m not alone but lonely. I don’t live alone but spend my time at home alone.

The forums do help me feel like I’m gaining some form of adult conversation.

KM sending you a massive big hug. Looking forward to being able to do it in person in the not so distant future.

It's awful to think of so many lonely people and I never thought I would be one of them, but I am. In the last year I have lost 4 relatives, my dog, got diagnosed with cancer and have had no support other than on the phone. I'm so ill that I can't even go for a walk now or go to the pub etc. My whole life has been turned upside down in a year. I not only feel socially lonely but lonely from the lack of connection and intimacy. Life is bloody hard and christ I've been through a lot in my life but this year has been the most testing

"I will be when my son leaves for uni... Sob!!"

I hear you there, it is a mix of all emotions isn't it.

My boy decided to study 300 mile away, felt awful leaving him, but you know he will be fine, this is what we do, we raise them then we let them go. He finished Uni and then got a job! A little closer to home, only 200+ mile away now lol

Just keep thinking in term times, he will be home soon enough with a hungry tummy and a truck load of washing before you know it

Well today I’m back to being childless for two weeks which is really going to suck, I spent the majority of lockdown with him being off school and this year hasn’t been the same

I'm really glad that came across this thread. I live alone and like most people living in their own I do have some bad days.

But luckily most of the time during this year and last I was able to work, it's just when you live on your own you do get some days where you feel down and don't even want to come out of bed let alone going out.

But we all can see the light at the end of tunnel as slowly but surely things are starting to get back to normal.

Don't know abt others but I miss most of the time someone to have a conversion and someone for company as for whatever the reason was I was coping ok with no intimacy.

Let's stay positive and hope no further waves of this virus and in the meantime if anyone need any kinfld of assis6around me or someone to chat with I'm mostly available.

Stay safe

"I think this covid as made a lot more people depressed I am suffered with depression for years but most people would not know because all ways happy on the outside its good that other people also struggle with it there is still a stigma with being down no matter how you are feeling there is always people worse of than yourselfs keep your chins up people we are all here for each other let's start a sad buggers group lol

I hate:

Keep your chin up

Things can only get better

Lots of people worse off

Et al. I know all that.

But when I am down they do nothing but wind me up. Just a simple hug is better. A bit of time with someone. Even just being told they will be with me through it.

I think and my opinion.... when someone’s down I ask them to talk about what’s good in life.... let them see themselves what’s good .... the problem is you don’t get to look on an mri scan or an X-ray or a blood test for mentaL health.... it’s well being, emotions and things we don’t really want to deal with as a cure for person maybe a curse for another..... we just have to reach out and always be kind xxxx

Thought it was a swinging site (have you ever gone round the top, such a high), not a sex site.

Explains lack of parks info.

Okay, okay I didn't fully proof read my plooong post so shoot me.. some blooming picky people on ere at times..

Wasn't picking just upset that there's no swings and nobody to push me.

Ahh okay apologies took it the wrong way mate *high elbows* "

No problem

To you all above you should be proud of yourselves for letting your feelings out to help others. Well done. x

Now I am certainly not a mental heath advisor or anything like that!!!

But I have an idea for us to try, with your permission please?

I would like sometime tomorrow, Monday and if you join this thread after tomorrow you can still get involved with us.

I would like all of us sometime tomorrow to find a mirror and just take 15 seconds to take a look into the mirror and just think we are all doing this together today.

Will you help me to help others please?

I've been single now for 18 months. I've survived 3 lockdowns & kept my kids fed & a roof over our heads. I'm proud of myself but it's tempered heavily by being lonely & just not having anyone for me, to talk to, to hug & to just have that reassurance from someone else when you're unsure or having a little wobble. I cry now & then, I admit it. I think sleep has lots to do with it. I'm worse when I'm tired & coping feels much harder. I'm kinda used to being on my own now & it'll take time to rebuild trust in a new relationship but these arms don't half feel empty at times when you just want a hug or cuddle.

I know that feeling all too well, I’ve been single going on seven years now and found it hard to trust somebody long enough to actually give things a go, had a couple of flings but ended up being more screwed up by the end of it. Don’t give up you’ll have somebody to cuddle up to soon

Not so.much alone, plenty of friends, but not that extra connection both physical and mental that I am increasingly missing.

That's really good buddy!! I did it today as well and took some very deep breaths and thinking of other people doing this did give me a slight grin.

Allowing hugging now doesn't help those of us with nobody to hug. We just have to mentally hug each other. Chat to each other too.
