Anyone else here get surprised by how far "the south" is on profiles?

As a proper south cost boy, I grew up correctly knowing that the North / South divide was what the Thames was built for, but according to Fab, Banbury is apparently in the south east, rather than "Basically Scotland" in my book.

Yup, being in Kent, we get excited when seeing people in the South East only to find they're North of the Watford gap. Very strange

Manchester (he/him)

I grew up in Staffordshire, lived in Yorkshire for a while anything south from Coventryish is increasingly southern and anywhere north of Chesterfield is North.

I’m a small island of Northerner surrounded by southerners

Essex born and did some travelling with ice hockey.

In my head Watford gap is the "yes, back in the south so not long now til we're home" border and hitting Sheffield when travelling up was "fuck me we're heading to nose bleed territory we're so high" border.

The Waterford gap is south? Do you have your porridge before or after you toss your caber?

Bradford

For me anything below Watford gap is south and anything above Sheffield is north, that bit in the middle is just no mans land that keeps the two sides apart
