When someone uses CAPS LOCK

On here or social media...

There’s no need to shout. What does it make you think of?

Although when I write I use caps, so other people can read my writing. As my joined up

Looks illegible to some.

I usually think it's someone who finds it easier to type without changing from upper to lower case. It isn't easy on the eye though

It's mostly an issue when there's no other means by which to highlight important text.

TO ME IT COMES ACROSS AS THOUGH SOMEONE IS ANNOYED. Use for EMPHASIS.

All handwritten capitals is different and I use them because my joined up can be a scrawl.

I don't think it's always used that way. Sometimes it's to accentuate the word or play with it.

Probably just dont understand CapsLock, or dont realise

I have done it few times where i write something out then realise its in all caps as CapsLock is a key bind in a couple of games i play. As i use shift to capitalise anyway I can sometimes not notice

"On here, well can't bold or italic a word so capitals it'll be in some cases."

You could use Markdown (a simple formatting system for plain text)

**Bold** or __Bold__

_Italic_ or *Italic*

I seldom write in capitals for a whole text unless its for something like a poster or message I want to be seen .....

On here I will emphasise a word in capitals.

It's not ranty it's to make the reader accentuate that word when they read.

It's all capitals that are supposed to be against internet etiquette. I suspect it's one of those urban myths that got picked up until everyone told the same lie.

I've been in forums where people got kicked for using caps. ( not on here )

Power should never be put into the hand of the small minded or the inadequate.

Do you not think inadequate and small minded covers just about everyone in charge, from a comittee, to local and national government?

Therefore we all are in their hands.

It is against internet ettiquite tbf, not just some myth

Its been seen as shouting since atleast the time of IRC and has always been disliked on any forum i have been on since like 2004

Capitalising a word for effect is fine, just not the whole sentence.

I always used to wite in block capital on legal engineering logs and forms. My hand writing is very clear but this way there could be no misunderstanding or ambiguity on what I had recorded. Handy for safety, others progressing a fault investigation and in an unfortunate event accurate investigation by relevant authorities.

I use or you proper language on here, as in upper/lower case Yet weirdly in real life I abandoned such things and literally write everything in capitals. No posh joined up writing here. Just larger capitals at the start of my sentences. Go figure

In all fairness, I had an accident that prevented my seeing clearly. I still struggle a little sometimes. I wish I could type with capitals as it would allow me to see more clearly.

It’s why I am so rubbish at those Drinks, Kiss, Dance, Flirt threads. By the time I can see what I’ve typed clearly, the thread has moved on by about 5 posts!

Thats very common

Was told to do the same on any paperwork i may need to fill in while working while doing my SIA course.
