Secret hideaway in the pennines

On the back of another thread. And this is for the singles specifically.

Is or can a first social meet classed as a date, be it meeting for coffee or a drink in the pub or whatever social/public location.

It kind of follows the dating guidelines, to a degree, you see someone you fancy, you start chatting on here via pm, it then turns into that first social meet, which leads to whatever

It is what you want it to be.

The key is being open about your expectations x

Honestly a think a social can turn into a date ..

I treat them as dates as am not into one offs so I am not going just to see if he or she is too mine and there liking.

Even men a chat with in a club don’t get to fuck me straight away .. but then that’s probably why a don’t get that much interest

I don’t see the difference it’s just terminology

Perhaps ‘social’ or ‘meet’ sounds less formal than ‘date’ x

For me personally it’s a social - but like someone else said that can easily turn into a date but I guess it depends what both parties are looking for

Me too... they don’t have to say “date” but “Do you want to arrange a meet” is a very big turnoff for me... and so many men say this.

Personally I refer to it as a social always even if there's a "datish" feel about it , like drinks and dinner, holding hands walking back to our cars .

We're not dating , he's not considering introducing me to his mum , and I don't expect him to bring me flowers

Yes, that is how I see it too...

I personally view it as a date, but that doesn't mean it is automatically romantically inclined. It could be a social date leads to a play date.

The issue you may find is some people only use the terminology around dating when referring to romantic liaisons and so when you call it a date they get the wrong impression.

Date/social. Some guys are scared of the word date, one kept telling me "it's not a date" so I just kept saying it

Don't really see what difference it makes. You know what it's leading to either way.

And let's face it , if I was to say something like " let's meet at such and such pub for OUR FIRST DATE " the guy would freak out and run a mile

Depending on a person's interpretation of the word Date, I have loads of dates set in my diary but not one of them is with a human

Im happy to refer to things as a date ie social, hate the term 'hook up'

Probably, but if you don’t want fingering under the table probably best to call it a social

?

I think for some the difference could lie in the intention, or perceived intention...I would be inclined to think that a date would be with someone looking for a relationship, but a social or meet is a clear NSA.

At the end of the day they're all just interviews to see if you think that person is the right fit for whatever you're looking for...but interview sounds even more clinical and detached than meet

On a mooch

For me it’s a social or going out. Just simply spending time with good company whether that be friends or more.

The word ‘date’ just seems an old fashioned term, taking that step on a set relationship route.

Off here? Not unless both have stated an interest in a relationship.

i agree with this - as long as both parties know what the other is expecting from it, call it whatever you want
