I'm really nosey so I'd like to know what type of home you live in - flat, house, flatshare, castle etc ..

Who with - partner, kids etc..

And what you would change

I live in a 1 bedroom flat on my own after years of living with other people and I LOVE it

I would change the tiny outside area to a private garden

I live on my own in a decent sized 1960s 3-bed semi with a good sized garage, garden and driveway.

I bought it with my ex - which was a huuuuuge mistake, as was getting with her in the first place, with hindsight - and it's too big for just me, really, but I can't afford to move either

House with my children. There's a couple of bits I'd love to change although some not quite possible as it's a very old terrace house. I'm in the process of sorting out the mess of a garden at the moment. Wish it had a drive way instead of on street parking

Four bed, semi detached early Victorian property. I absolutely love it - the high ceilings, the original Minton tiling, beautiful features and a large garden.

I'd change the upkeep required (my poor chimney, the plastering etc) ) and also paint the living room walls a dark green. The latter has been vetoed by the fiancé though.

i live in a 3-bed house with my small Demon Beasts.. and i hate it here.

it was meant to be a stop-gap to get us out of a women's refuge, as that was crippling. but my life going up in flames meant we've not been able to leave yet.

however my Small People are happy and healthy and warm, and i know im fortunate when there are so many others who aren't quite so.

as my mum says, i just need to bide my time and bloom where im planted. Px

2 bedroom cottage, nice enclosed yard, 2 small outbuildings and a big shed, just me and the pup. I'd struggle to throw a stone to my nearest neighbour.

I want to rip up the tarmac and relay it at some point and fit gullies where there's poor drainage and an aqua channel across the shed entrance. I want to RIP up the concrete outside the outbuildings as the person here before me let s and grass overrun it and they along with ground water have ruined it.

I live in a big house, in a slightly down at heel area (though it is on the up).

5 bedroom Edwardian terrace. On my own.

I moved here 4 years or so ago, when I separated from my wife. It's funny, I realised that it was actually the first time I had ever lived on my own!

I joined the Army at 16, and left married 10 years later.

I never, ever, ever, want to share my home again!

honestly the house prices are really decent... I wouldn't pay city centre prices; but I'm only about 15 mins car journey away from the centre of Manchester and was able to buy this place (decent size, front and back garden and a drive etc) for basically the cost of a garage in London

with home working etc more normal now, I reckon prices round here could fly up due to its proximity to everything.. feel blessed to live in such a gorgeous little town.

and it has the advantage of being so close to the greatest city in the world!

Reading about reluctant gardeners above. Our site is over 1/4 acre. I have put a lawn in the front, I planted rows of vegetables on the side and the back is still over grown bog.

I'm way over my head. My poly tunnel killed everything I put in there. My rows of veg all died. I got 6 peas and a spud too small to eat.

We have a family of deer living over the hill and they ate all my potato plants ... and my grass is pale and yellow and and full of rushes

Tiny victorian terrace with the sproglets. We're fortunate enough to have a long thin garden instead of the usual small yard, and there's an access path to the back gardens mid-terrace, which has our box room and the bathroom above it. I wish I could afford a full width extension on the back so instead of trying to cram visitors into a tiny living room and a dining kitchen we'd have more space for family Christmas dinners and birthdays etc. I'm lucky to own a house so I shouldn't complain too much.

5 bed detached, detached double garage, big driveway and gardens and a minutes walk to the beach. Just me, my wife and our dog. Far too big for us really but the family are always here so it's nice to have the space. Only thing I'd change is the position as the back garden is overlooked so not private enough to sunbathe in the buff.

"2 bedroom cottage, nice enclosed yard, 2 small outbuildings and a big shed, just me and the pup.

That sounds like my perfect house, if I wasn't scared of being alone at night in the middle of nowhere.

Just Mr N and I in a two bed, detached.

We're (still) making improvements/ renovations but it's the first home we've ever had where we can afford to get it how we want it. We love the garden and the house all we would change would be fewer neighbours and if wish lists are allowed we'd add an indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub but only one of those three is even a remote possibility.

And what you would change

I live in a 1 bedroom flat on my own after years of living with other people and I LOVE it

I would change the tiny outside area to a private garden

"

I live in a 3 bed house alone and although it’s amazing it’s too big for my needs now so ideally want to downsize to a 2 bed flat or bungalow with a garage, to store motorbike, and a wood burner/fire to relax in front of when freezing

3 bed corner semi with T, my 2 children & a dog. As we’re on a corner the front garden is a total waste of space but the birds like it. T is doing something with raised beds in the back garden - I just make cups of tea. And sometimes watch him.

We looked at moving but would need a bigger mortgage for a smaller house. Bloody stupid!!!

5 bedroom semi detached house, rented with my 3 adult children, and my daughters boyfriend, was originally a 3 bedroom but have had building work done because of my sons disabilities to add downstairs bedroom and wet room.

3 bed post WW1 "homes for heroes" house, ex-local authority. It's one of the end houses of a row of 3 but looks like a semi detached in terms of design. Large front and back gardens plus driveway up the side from front to back. Garage in the back garden too. All the bedrooms are doubles, all rooms have large sizes and high ceilings due to the architectural rules for local authority houses at the time. Currently it's Mr KC, our daughter and I who live here FT. Our 18yo son lives away at uni at the moment, but may or may not come home at some point?! My Dad occasionally stays but he gets confused so not as much now.

What we'd change - all of downstairs - needs a new kitchen and damp issues resolving but builders either fail to turn up, or come but don't quote and disappear.

We had the roof done in Feb/March and also a new bathroom this year too.

I've got a stupidly big 3 bedroom house that I'm about to sell and downsize.

If it wasn't for Ivy coming to stay with me at the beginning of lockdown then I'd be rattling around on my own in a house with 15 rooms ( 3 bathrooms, 2 are en-suite) 4 toilets, walk in pantry, a balcony, 2 large integral garages, driveway for 6 cars and my own 60ft private mooring on the canal.

I really want to downsize to something a third the size (2 bedrooms) but keep the drive and a big garage but it's a nightmare trying to find something that isn't set up for a family, there is a real lack of houses to suit people who want to live alone but still have something that ticks the right boxes.

I live in a stone fronted 3 floor Victorian terrace set back from the road

Out front, there is a stone walled courtyard garden

Out back, there is a walles yard, a car parking space and then a garden which is a mix of lawn and raised decking

Inside; downstairs there is a living room, dining room & kitchen

Upstairs, a big front bedroom, bathroom and a smaller back bedroom currently used as an office / snug

Upstairs again is a full size attic room which goes front to back with beamed ceilings

Some rooms are finished, others are work in progress

The best thing about it though is the view out back, hills & open countryside

We are in a 4 bed 1950's semi with a massive, south facing garden that I love. We recently got our shitty 80's conservatory redone so now it's a usable room. At the moment it's a home office but could be anything you want it to be.

I'd make the bedrooms all doubles if I could and divert the traffic so it's quieter out front but from that I'm happy here

Recently we've noticed a draft and think its coming from one of the exhausts.

"Not many 'single' men that live alone then

Shocker "

One of the lucky ones here. I was able to buy my ex wife out on amicable terms.

Love having it to myself. 3 bedroom semi plus converted loft workroom which stays cool in summer and warmish in winter.

Most houses in this road have been converted to 5 bedroom by infilling over linking garages, spoiling the separation and turning one side of the road into a continuous terrace. not what the original planners had in mind but greedy council rubs hands together over increased rateable value.

Big downside of people enlarging instead of moving is that it takes smaller affordable properties, in this pleasant area, off the market forever and they then get replaced with lower quality new builds elsewhere which now invariably are on developments deliberately featuring shared amenity charges.

Need all the space to myself and only heat areas I am using. Staying here until they find me at the bottom of the stairs after nobody's seen me for a week!

I love my house. Big enough for when the children come. Small garden that takes no time to do. Big enough to sunbathe and bbq. Local canal for walking and running. I love it.

BRIDPORT

I reside in a detached house in the countryside, I am the sole resident with no close neighbours.

I couldn’t be doing with neighbours, I‘ve lived here for close on 51 years.

It was a family home but I bought it from the other family members.

I live on the edge of the moor, a comfy, cosy home with a bedroom that faces west to watch the sunset, I have a little land, with deer and rabbits, foxes, badgers and hedgehogs. It is peaceful.

I live in a beautiful apartment within a old Georgian Manor House.

The bathroom is huge with a stand alone bath and shower big enough for a party. Does this guarantee happiness....ok yes a bit,

I’m single and I’m living a better quality of life than before, the house is just a nice place to do it.

In the past I have chased the big house and fancy cars because I thought that would make me happy and save a relationship

They did neither
