The iconic song is “Goldfinger” by Shirley Bassey.

My favourite is “We have all the time in the World” by Louis Armstrong or “for your Eyes Only” by Sheena Eaton.

Honourable mentions for “You only live twice”, Diamonds are Forever” (Basseys best), “Nobody does it better’ and “live and let Die”

Got to be “Live and Let Die”

Honourable mentions for “gold finger” and “diamonds are forever”

Sky fall definitely top of the Daniel Craig era.

"a view to a kill duran duran was great"

This is probably my favourite but I always think of Shirley bassy when I think of James bond themes. I don'tkke the song but it's iconic as OP said

"For your eyes only "

Love the lyrics as well

For your eyes only, only for you

You'll see what no one else can see, and now I'm breaking free

For your eyes only, only for you

The love I know you need in me, the fantasy you've freed in me

Only for you, only for you

Somewhere off the edge of the map... 'ere there be monsters

No. 1 for me is License to Kill (Gladys Knight), followed very closely by Nobody Does it Better (Carly Simon).

Honorable mention goes to On Her Majesty's Secret Serive title / main theme.

Secret hideaway in the pennines

Up until the recent set of films, live and let die, but the chris Cornell blew me away with you know my name , I thought it fit perfectly with the new style bond, hard gritty and full of balls

For sheer drama, it has to be Live and let die!

I do love Nobody does it better but as it reminds me of someone so I rarely play it these days

The best one is obviously A-ha's 'The Living Daylights', followed by Duran Duran's 'A View to a Kill'.

It's great to see Gladys Knight's 'Licence to Kill' getting some love in this thread – very sorely underrated.

I've got a massive soft spot for Lulu's 'The Man With the Golden Gun' - it's just so much fun. I wonder if they knew Christopher Lee would be playing Scaramanga when they wrote the lyrics?

Shirly Bassey's 'Diamonds are Forever' is worth a mention for the lyrics too — the narrator absolutely gets it.

I wish I could rate Wings' 'Live and Let Die' higher. Great build-up, absolutely banging double-time section, then completely spoiled for me by the inexplicable reggae bit, which feels like it's been shoehorned in from a completely different song.

Finally, I've got to mention 'Casino Royale Theme (Reprise)' by Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass, with the uncredited vocal performance from Mike Redway. Like the non-EON 1967 Casino Royale it's taken from, it's just delightful and puts a massive smile on my face every time.

More Bond theme thoughts: Tina Turner does a great job with 'Goldeneye', but I'm taken out of it every time by the synth hits. That must be a deliberate (and very nineties) artistic choice – it's not like a Bond film couldn't afford an orchestra!

Of the Craig-era themes, the only one I like is 'Another Way to Die' from Quantum of Solace. It has a wonderful *slithery* quality that works just perfectly for a song about a secret agent. Still not convinced that piano is properly in tune, though.

Also, for fans of the actual Bond theme, YouTube 'Good Sign Bad Sign' from the musical A House for Mr Biswas, which is what Monty Norman based it on.

Trivia: Vic Flick, the guitarist who played *that part*, was paid the princely one-off sum of... £6.

Definitely Chris Cornell

You know my name

I think if it was titled the same as the film it might have been played more

( unless they wanted to distance themselves from it )

Duran Duran A View To A Kill hands down best soundtrack. The film is also in my top 3, highly underrated and often slated for moores old age

I think Skyfall had the strength behind it to be a belter like what Shirley Bassey used to do but also agree that Louis Armstrong All the Time in the World had very many clever elements to it

Agreed! I think it would have been received very differently if it was the first Dalton film rather than the last Moore.

Don’t know if it’s classed as a bond theme but it’s in one of the old films and the new one

We have all the time in the world, Louis Armstrong
