Somewhere In The Ether…

They’ve been around for seemingly ever and provided some fantastic music over the years.

Fellow fans: What is your all time fave Depeche Mode track? (I’m being a real bugger and narrowing you down to only one!)

Policy of Truth.

But Nothing to Fear has a very special place in my heart. I was introduced to Depeche Mode by my very first boyfriend when we were both 16. That track was my favourite then (this was before the Violator album came out).

He just died a few weeks ago, suddenly and alone. so I l’ve been listening to a lot of Depeche Mode in the last few weeks!

A question of lust. It was in a film from the 1980’s and I thought the song actually improved the film.

So they’ve always been on my radar (love their videos) but that song truly tuned me into their music.

Little 15, the words are quite harrowing when you picture what's being said.

I can't pick a favorite song as so many of them take me back to certain times in life and bring back very vivid memories but im always drawn to Blasphemous Rumours live from 101.

I've found the best thread ever!

Lucky to have seen them live twice and both times 'Home' just blew me away so it'll have to be that one.

Although...Never let me down again has everyone swaying their hands so maybe that...

No...Home definitely.

Agghhhh. Tough decision

No no no you can't just limit to one I am gonna change my response every hour.

If I had to pick one right now I am going with Shake the Disease.

Pink Genie Home is amazing when he sings it live

Off the top of my head, I'm going to say 'I Feel You'.

Probably 'Stripped' as a runner-up.

'People are People' is loads of fun too.

You need to hear the live version of but not tonight it was a USA only release back in the 80's awful song really but martin gore has sung it live in recent concerts and it's comes over much better

I'm a bit of a DM geek....lol

Enjoy The Silence.

Anecdotally, I've heard that ETS was specifically written to be a club-dance track and it was DM's first move in to this arena.

Sadly, since Alan Wilder left, I've felt their songs have been sub-par. Martin Gore is not a great arranger. He admits as such.

He has said that he writes lyrics, picks up a guitar, does some strumming and that's it. He hates going in to the studio to arrange and actively avoids it. Alan Wilder would take MG's very rough draft and turn it in to a full fledged song, with hours of studio work in to the wee hours. Chronically underappreciated by the rest of the band.

My favourite is Halo, but I was in a club a few years back when Soothe My Soul came on and it was a sublime moment.

That moment is seared into my mind - the sheer joy of it. Somehow it doesn't work for me outside of a club though. It's a great song, but when I'm not dancing to it I don't have that same emotional pull.

Depends on the day and mood. Quick pick me up, dancing in the kitchen then "just can't get enough"...

Late night driving, feeling sorry for myself then "Enjoy the silence"

Every one loves "Personal Jesus".. that's a given though , right?

I think it's maybe I feel you.....

Question of lust holds a special place for me though, the lyrics mean so much - particularly in the swinging world!
