The right sides of the bed

Jump to newest

Having a discussion with someone about who sleeps on which side of the bed. I wondered if there was one side favoured by a particular gender?

Standing at the foot of the bed, I favour the right hand side. On which side do you sleep?

Is the side you sleep on related to a feature of the room, like a door or window, or maybe to get out quickly?

Usually face down star fished around where the dog and cat have chosen ... don't have an actual side but the light/bedside cabinet are on the left when standing at the bottom of the bed so perhaps err to that?

But I'll sleep whichever side you like OP

Just know that 90% of the duvet is mine.

Standing at foot of bed I sleep on right near window. Always have. Plus T gets up earlier then me so needs to be nearer door to not wake me up

Currently a rightie

It has changed house by house and I can't find the logic. Nothing to do with doors or windows, just a general 'feels like my side'

If I'm sharing then standing at the bottom I'm on the left, when I roll into the centre my right hand is free to wander...

If I'm on my own closest to the door.

It isn't something I often have to worry about, but if I have the choice I prefer to be on the left, as you look from the foot of the bed, with the woman to my left. I'm right handed, so that means I can roll to my left and put my right arm around her.

If in a hotel then whichever side I can reach a/the bedside table easiest to put my glasses on it.

It doesn't bother me but Mr says he has to sleep on the left side. However this doesn't seem to bother him anywhere else apart from at home and seems to be something he favoured since we had kids. My theory is his preferred side is whichever is away from the door so that I'm the one who gets woken up by the kids in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning.

The outside edge if the bed is against the wall as I get claustrophobic between the wall and a person.

On the left of the bed as you're laying in it if I'm alone.

That won't work, I'll either climb up, trap him with my womanly ways and get on top of him that way or I'll just scare him into submission from the top.
