Do you like and recommend it, or advise to stay away? I have never tried it, so bought a bottle for a weekend to try. I've heard it has rather bad reputation.

I’ve tried it a few times and don’t really understand the hype around the stuff. It’s just like a strong cheap wine. Try meths - it’s a far superior drink to lighter fluid

It's more expensive than a bottle of half decent red wine

There's areas of the UK it's banned in. I'm not a fan myself as buckfast d*unk has got me into some hairy situations in the past.

A good friend of mine used to drink 4-5 half bottles of it a day, he'd walk to the off sales and buy a bottle and 4 tins of strongbow, once he drank them he'd walk to the off sales and buy the same, and rinse and repeat.

I once asked why he didn't just be done with it and buy a big bottle. He said "if I buy the half bottle I place myself and sip at it and then have to walk to get another. If I buy the big bottle I'll neck the first half of it and then crazy shit starts happening."

Did you know buckfast wasn't actually made in Scotland? It was made by monks from buckfast Abbey.

Was once in Edinburgh and I past this off licence and it had the following handwritten sign blu-tac'd inside the door...

"We have run out of Buckfast. Please do not shout at our staff as it is not their fault.

Thanks

The Management"

To answer your question, no monks have not stopped to produce buckfast. They've just got better facilities

Lurgan Champagne?

Use with caution. Proper wreck the hoose joose.

If you do end up in trouble after drinking it,

don't blame it on the sunshine, don't blame it on the moonlight, don't blame it on the good times, blame it on the Bucky...

Not a fan. It's like drinking cough syrup to me.

Although, I tried it in a shot mixed with Whisky. Actually pretty nice.

The only person I've met that didn't react badly to it is a female friend who could drink two big bottles of it during a house party with no hospital visits, night in the cells or criminal damage.

Bizarrely we were talking about buckfast last night as we were sipping cocktails outside.

Can't even recall seeing it for sale. But sounds like the sort of thing that Russians would like. If that helps.
