So I started a thread called 1 post meaning you can only post once and it needs to be a nice post.....not even at 20 posts and people are arguing wtf....

Its true you can't have a nice forum thread...ive tried x

The 1 post thread was so you post 1 nice thing thats it...just enjoy reading others nice posts....but as people have proved you can't be civil....good luck x

Escalated to what?!

Maybe escalate was the wrong word (ironic seeing as I have a degree in languages) but people maybe not understanding the rule but then compounding their errors once the rule had been explained

I don't think it's about being nice (or not nice) and I'm sure most people on the forum are 'nice' in RL.

The nature of purely textual communication and the lack of social cues and accountability (which you get with non-anonymous face-to-face interaction) can lead to depersonalisation and viewing forum users as just avatars and not as 'real' people. Which is why arguments/bullying can escalate quickly on social media and forums. Which is why forums need moderators to 'police' the users.

The phrases 'don't fan the flames' and 'don't feed the trolls' are really the best advice on a forum. But it's not always as simple as that.

To the OP, there was no arguments on the thread. All these threads people have been starting complaining about other peoples posts are just causing division and not helping.

Maybe everyone should accept that unless a person is breaking rules, they are allowed to post.
