My nan’s spare room.

A good quality big scotch egg with a slightly runny yolk is a delight.

Pork pie is easier to get right and with a touch of mustard or pickle is also a culinary favourite of mine.

Pork pie.

Good pork pie is just mouth-wateringly delicious.

Scotch eggs have to be fresh and still warm to even stand any chance of competing with pork pie and even then I’d always go for the pork pie first.

Both are great in theory, but can easily get overwhelming. too much pie jelly makes me feel queasy, and a full egg can get very dry and cloying on the outside from all the breadcrumbs...

Poi pie, preferably a Melton Mowbray one with just the right amount of jelly.

Scotch eggs with black pudding coated in sausage meat and not that orange stuff that they coat them in. I’m sure that stuff is just orange coloured wood shavings!

There's a small business locally that makes the most delicious Scotch eggs. They do various kinds including pork & black pudding and pork & chorizo. All have slightly runny yolks in the middle. They are amazing.

As you say Gala or Grosvenor pie ( Pork pie, with egg on the middle)
