I get very popular around birthdays as my stock party catering is all those things you remember from birthday parties when you were a kid.

Sandwiches with the crusts off and one slice white bread one slice brown, cheese straws, sausage onna stick (stuck into a foil wrapped potato) iced biscuits, butterfly buns, all those chocolatey tray bakes... And of course a big, squidgy cake with candles in!

Some people have got too much time on their hands.

What did they rub to get a genie to pop out of there???

Central

Celery, carrot sticks etc, some mini tomatoes. Maybe some crips, tho I don't eat them generally.

Also good to have humous, Tzatziki dips too, as these need little preparation but are very tasty.

Prefer chicken, and can have some sandwiches, of a range of fillings, as well as something like french stick bread, allowing people to make their own, or just have a side roll.

If I was doing it now, I'd also have some seasonal fruit, such as strawberries, blackberries etc.

Something like cheesecake is moorish as a dessert, which may or may not have the fruit added.

I am going to tell you something now that is very true and not very nice ! I am a chef and when i was doing my health and hygiene they told us NEVER to eat peanuts out of a bowl either off of bars or at buffets. Reason being a bowl was taken away from a bar to be analysed. There WAS at least 95 different urine samples in this one bowl where people don't wash their hands !! So i say ALWAYS eat peanuts out of a closed bag and this goes for other things like crisps. You far better just putting bags of crisps and nuts out instead of in bowls..... ( Perky)

Personally I love small pick ups, finger food that does not make a mess, preferably with either a cocktail stick or some paper wrapped around some part so you can eat it without dripping it down your (or rather my) boobs as I am quite good at that
