Bucks

we now have 51 medals on the board with a further 7 medals guaranteed (Sailing x2, Boxing x4 and Taekwondo x1) meaning we will at least bank 58 (10 more than the original Team GB target ...

but can we get more in the remaining 3 and a bit days of competition?

if so, where do you reckon they will come from??

Bucks

was prompted to post this as saw article on BBC news earlier that whilst we base our rankings on number of golds, then silver, the bronze ...

in america they simply go by total medals - so whilst in our system we are clear 3rd, under their method we are 4th (Russia has 55 in all at the moment)

The USA would say that cos it puts them top..

a fairer system would be 3 points for gold, 2 for silver, 1 for bronze.

we would be way ahead of Russia on that system.

It has to be based on winning not coming 2nd or 3rd. I wonder if this is the system the yanks base wining wars on? The more you are in the more first 2nds or 3rds you have

No one deserves a Gold Medal as you earn it. But that lad has gone through so much pain and grief I just hope he can stand on that top step and say 'Here you are Dad. I did it for you..'
