Secret hideaway in the pennines

I sometimes wonder if my compassion make me gullible.

I care about people and try to help out if I can, over the years I have been stung by sob stories, had the piss taken out of me our just out and out used.

I try to see the best in people. But then that is me.

It sounds as if it does make you a little gullible.

In a town full of colours

Compassion can be abused frequently that does not make you gullible, not learning from mistakes made from your compassion does.

Change what you need to change

Oh god, I relate to this so much.

I've been told a thousand times that I can't make the whole world a better place.

Thing is, if I wasn't true to myself and at least try to help people, I'd feel like a fraud.

Keep being you, and live with compassion and love. At least you'll know you've always been there for others. Just try not to let them take advantage, easier said than done xx

It is the price you pay, and I'd rather be taken for a fool than harden my heart.

There are givers in life and takers. Sadly the givers are easily identified by those who quite like an easy ride in life in whatever way they can engineer it. Seeing the best in people is great but it mustn't blind you from seeing the worst in some then acting accordingly so you're not taken advantage of. There are plenty of people who'll truly appreciate your humanity. All you need to do is to accept that there are those who abuse your kindness and avoid them. Be judicious with your kindness.

Kindness is a weakness.

A fool and money are easily parted.

There is also a saying "Don't mistake kindness for weakness"

My saying is

"Don't mistake kindness for weakness. You will be sorely mistaken if you do."

Those that didn't heed the warning were wrong to do so.

Ok put it this way, were they asking for help or did you decide they need help, unsolicited help can be annoying. if they did not ask for help you have yourself to blame, if they did ask for help all you can do is your best.

Compassion is a wonderful attribute. What most of us fail to give ourselves is self compassion. Healthy boundaries are important. Work on that first before you continue to help others. Compassion and people pleasing are two different things. Sometimes they can get muddled up.
