"When you watch something sad on TV even if it's just a programme that's not real? I can't help myself but get teary as I feel for them or I think I put myself in their shoes and how I would feel. Or am I just strange Her x" Not at all, it is what it means to be empathic. A rare trait I too get emotional, over anything. Sometimes it is cathartic to cry x

"There's a thing called 'Highly Sensitive Person' (HSP). It's a personality trait with a gene responsible for it rather than something that can be diagnosed but it may be worth having a look at that. I've just started learning about it after it was suggested by someone qualified that it could answer a lot of my questions. Unfortunately 'sensitive' has such a negative meaning for a lot of people as it's been used as almost an insult at times, but don't be put off. It's a bit like being an empath - but different " Yeah I've never really understood why it's seen as a bad thing. I'd rather feel a lot than the opposite. To feel is to really live and experience.

"I note the lack of men in this thread. It’s because we’re cowards who won’t admit the tears we are reduced to when our team loses!! " Honestly it makes me so sad how shameful men can feel about crying. Someone told me about being in a car crash and his first car that he loved being written off and he said "and I actually cried because I'm such an emotional twat". I think crying in that situation is perfectly understandable!!

I cry all the time, but I didn’t used to, I’ve learnt to. Now, I even cry at that bloody Lloyds bank advert

Derek Redmond 1994 Olympics ... sob like a baby every single time " Ha..exactly. I was about to put that as my example but didn't. That made me cry back in 1992. The other one is the female Swiss marathon runner, when she walked dehydrated into the stadium in 1984 (watched her on tv when I was 13yo). Olympics games always make me emotional. The 4 years effort for that particular one moment. "For the honour of our country and for the glory of sports"...sigh..those were the days.
