When you watch something sad on TV even if it's just a programme that's not real?

I can't help myself but get teary as I feel for them or I think I put myself in their shoes and how I would feel.

There's a thing called 'Highly Sensitive Person' (HSP). It's a personality trait with a gene responsible for it rather than something that can be diagnosed but it may be worth having a look at that.

I've just started learning about it after it was suggested by someone qualified that it could answer a lot of my questions.

Unfortunately 'sensitive' has such a negative meaning for a lot of people as it's been used as almost an insult at times, but don't be put off.

Honestly it makes me so sad how shameful men can feel about crying. Someone told me about being in a car crash and his first car that he loved being written off and he said "and I actually cried because I'm such an emotional twat". I think crying in that situation is perfectly understandable!!

I cry lots in real life (and I mean lots at any emotionally charged thing!)

When I watch things not that often ... I don't have a tv nor watch much though, but because it's just not real and emotionally charged I can easily not let it effect me unless watching in company that gets distressed.

But if I go to the cinema, and therefore emotionally charged, waterworks!

I wasn't emotional for most of my life. But in the last few years I have too many emotions lol. I don't cry but I do often find my throat contracting with emotion when watching some things. Usually kid related

Ha..exactly. I was about to put that as my example but didn't. That made me cry back in 1992.

The other one is the female Swiss marathon runner, when she walked dehydrated into the stadium in 1984 (watched her on tv when I was 13yo).

Olympics games always make me emotional. The 4 years effort for that particular one moment.

"For the honour of our country and for the glory of sports"...sigh..those were the days.

I never used to get emotional, but once my son was born i seem to have discoverd feeling i didnt know existed. I can be talking to someone about the daftest things and i feel the lumps in my throat.

Yep can definitely get a bit teary

I can still remember watching a programme several years ago about children who are carers - I had tears not just watery eyes. Just thinking about it now makes my eyes self lubricate a little.
