Bucks

keeping up the dining theme tonight; where was the best meal you had where you left thinking I'd have paid more for a meal of that quality? ...

was in Ho Chi Minh city about 10 years ago now and took a party of 8 locals to lunch.. my colleague from the local office did the food ordering and litterally dozens upon dozens of small dishes were brought to our table..

we didnt have a booze, but did have soft drinks and was followed by a dessert course...

i asked for the bill and the list of items we had must have run to a couple of feet of paper and when i asked my colleague how much he replied US$21

I couldnt even take a client out for even a pub lunch back in the city for anywhere near as cheap as that

Acapulco, 1991. A very plush steak house. We had T-Bone steak, (TBones were still banned over here), which arrived an inch thick and the size of an 18" dinner plate, a mountain of mushrooms, and more veg than a starving african could eat. I'm telling you that even Jesus couldn't have got rid of the amount of food we had. All for $40/head.

And they put a bucket of champagne next to our table and just kept refilling it as soon as we'd d*unk the bottle.

.

Back street cafe in Luxor, looked a right dump, but the food kept coming and was delicious, soft drinks (.50 for 3 of us.

Also staying in Petra and sick of Buffets at the Crown PLaza grabbed a taxi and asked him to take us somewhere. Took us to a small cafe, no menu, but again the food just kept coming till we told them to stop, don't know half of what was eaten and to be honest didn't care, again soft drinks and was £7.00
