Frederick Forsythe's book is good, but Fred Zinneman's film is better.

The bit where he's ordering paints from an unsuspecting shop-woman is one part chilling and one part amusing. Even ruthless hired killers have to show patience in public when faced by over-worked shop assistants.

Ah yesterday I watched The Song of Names with Tim Roth and Clive Owen. Brilliant story and characters, but I felt like ending wasn't in balance. I'm missing something. Not saying more. No spoilers.

Prior to that Hillbilly Elegy. Fantastic role of Glen Close. Predictable end, but nice warming plot, American dream story of sorts. Glen has been Oscar nominated for that performance.

Last film I watched was American Woman (NowTV) with Sienna Miller. She plays a young grandmother whose daughter disappears and it follows her life over the ensuing years. Good if you like understated 'slice of life' and character study type films.

Not a film but I watched a programme on YouTube about seaside violence.

It started with this red nosed man throwing a baby, then when the mother arrived and told him off he picked up a stick and started beating her with it.

Next he had some sausages which I think were stolen and a dog snatched them off him so he started hitting the dog.

When the police arrived the red nosed man and the police started exchanging blows hitting each other with sticks and batons with the poor baby getting a few belts when the policeman's back was turned.

It was all kicking off

C made me watch Flash Gordon. It’s brilliantly ludicrous. Haven’t laughed out loud that much in time! And the music is good so bonus.

Yes the fights were really believable because of Jackie Chan’s great skills. Pierce was good in his role as well.

I only read about half the book as it just didn’t grip me so gave the film a go and couldn’t watch that either. I don’t often enjoy films that flip backwards and forwards in time.

Another awful film on Netflix is Anti-Life with Bruce Willis.

Bruce Willis seems to churn out the same type of films over and over again in recent years. I started watching Hard Kill on Netflix and it was so awful I threw myself through the closed patio doors.

A film from 1951, that I can almost guarantee that no-one on this site has ever heard of, but which is worth watching.

The Franchise Affair starring the husband and wife team of Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray.

A young girl claims to have been held captive, the owners of the house are vilified and ostracised, but by detective work, it is proved that she was briefed by a disgruntled former housemaid to fabricate the story against the owners.

It is frequently broadcast on TPTV, Freeview channel 81.

Magic Mike. I am sad to say!

I just fancied watching the Full Monty again as that was a funny film, but Netflix didn't have that film available and showed me a list of similar movies to pick from.
