Yep, based on the original comics rather than the sitcom.

I really enjoyed it.

Would probably appeal to those who liked Buffy.

He's hardly in it and doesn't talk (it's not based on the old series, so is quite different)

It also turned out the lead actress was highly allergic to cats, so they used him less than planned

There is a special episode which mimicked the old series, and he is in that being quite sarky though.
