Did you go to Southampton City Centre

?

I'm there daily (bank) and it appeared absolutely manic yesterday compared to before. The queue for Primark was up at BK.

I have followed the rules of the first lockdown throughout the entire pandemic.

I will continue to do so while I monitor the case numbers and wait for my vaccinations.

403 days since I last touched another human being now.

Exactly this. It's not safe for me to see any of my partners, but it *is* safe for the LADS LADS LADS to get smashed in public.

Seriously, fuck the pandemic, fuck a lot of people's behaviour throughout it, and most of all fuck the government for their 150,000+ negligence deaths on top of the 120,000+ people they already murdered through ideological austerity.

Personally don't think it's societies fault at all people are people at the end of the day and most people have stuck to the rules, when the rules say they can go to primarks or the pub they will. This 3rd lockdown meant a hell of a lot of people were still at work and having to travel, I saw the difference on PT as a key worker so many more people having to travel compared to last year.

The government were more concerned about the economy than beating the virus like other island nations have.

After being cooped up so long in the house I am going to a beer garden today?

Why not?

I dont get why people are hating on each other for something we have been allowed to do, after alot of peoples mental health suffering for so long.

I could go into a very long rant about the effects of mental health during thiss but I wont, I just dont understand why some are so against others having a little bit of freedom and fun now.

Esp when so many have been vaccinated and are still getting vaccinated too.

I think some of it is resentment that some people can go have freedom and fun. Especially if they've worked all the way through the pandemic and still are. The media did make out Monday was some kind of extra bank holiday talking of party atmospheres. So I can see why some have a downer about it to be honest.

I think it's because many people are fearful - we've been here before, and vaccination is not a magical cure-all - but also because the things some people desperately want to do aren't allowed yet. It's frustration x

Hate just breeds hate though.

I havnt gone out yet, i am later for 1.5hrs.

I get happy for people. Everyone has suffered in different ways.

Let them have fun

Being this far north our pubs haven't opened yet but I do have a hair cut booked for two weeks today and counting (not that I'm ridiculously excited for it at all)

I probably won't be hitting the shops/beer gardens too soon but mainly to save the pennies - I'll be taking wine and nibbles round to friends gardens though

Absolutely nothing.

I've worked all through this pandemic on the frontline. I have been vaccinated and get tested 4 times a week but still in no hurry to go shopping or to the pub..

Would rather have a nice get together with close friends in my garden until such times as the "hype" of being let out into the world again dies down.

Agreed.

I've made concessions to my mental health now, but with all the mitigation against risk I can manage.

I worry that we're going to undo the hard work we've done. I'm not NHS, but my social services adjacent voluntary work has been fucking hard this year.

I absolutely understand how hard it's been - me too, this last year has been an utter fucking shit show. But the idea that people will celebrate, spread disease, and potentially make our hell come back... Yes I am goddamn afraid.
