Sometimes attention, sometimes passing the time of day, sometimes for genuine discussions.

Why can't it be both? Most people don't use the forums anyway so not sure how it makes a difference?

Less and less atm.

The flirting has died down, as the intention behind it is fruitless for now.

I miss the forum flirting, getting to know potential meets, planning fantasy situations!

You got to know a person, their desires and quirks, sense of humour...

Now there much more pettiness and arguing.

I'm hoping it perks up again when meets are allowed

I couldn't agree with you more about forums! They are something that I actually discovered out of boredom, and further exploration of this site during lock down when even meeting up direct with established contacts would have been stupidity on the highest level, and it may have been a pointless exercise simply messaging people who you liked the look of at this moment in time. What I actually discovered that it's an outstanding way to get yourself noticed by people from different parts of the UK with whom you might just have a meeting of minds. Also judging from the private repsonses I get, it seems that there's a great deal of people who read the forums but don't actually post on them, which suggests to me that posting on forum's is a fantastic way to bring yourself to the attention of others, and this is obviously going to result in successful future meets after look down as we get to know more about the people who we are connecting with.

I'm not hung like a sky remote. Not even the small ones.

I don't have a full head of hair anymore.

But I have opinions and I feel like I'm reasonable and rational so I can be a good forum poster.

(I'm also too serious and very dry)

So it's a bit of both. It's how I get to show off until I get to dance with people or kiss them. And I get to talk and feed that side of my ego

I thought the lounge was always a place for chatting and general banter.

There are plenty of other places on here to look for hookups.

The site caters for both chatting and hook ups, and IMHO is a better place for it.

Plus, I prefer the completely open conversions you get on here than on a social media site.

It's a combination of factors, lockdown boredom certainly being one.

However, I would also say that there are some stimulating debates with thoughtful, well-informed contributors who articulate viewpoints I haven't considered. I don't object to the general smut and silliness either

And of course, it's a way of interacting with other users and sidestepping the perennial single male curse of not getting any bloody messages

Why do I post?

Because the spider who's moved in doesn't respond.

Because I like to make people laugh, cry and vomit.

Because there are times I do have interesting things to say.

Because sometimes I don't want others feeling ignored.

Because I do attend forum socials and if I don't get involved on the forum I won't know who thinks I'm a cretin or who's drink to flob in.

Because actually, some people here are fucking awesome humans

The forums make up a very small part of the site. Therfore they are unlikely to change the site.

Ultimately this site is whatever people want it to be. Do what works for you.

There's no right or wrong way to use it.

As for why I post, many reasons. Sometimes I say something interesting and it's good to start a discussion.

Sometimes I say something silly and it might make people smile or laugh.

Sometimes I'm bored and it passes some time.

Mostly though, because I can!

"To piss people off so they block me

Having been around the block, no pun intended, for a few years now, with a wealth of experience behind me, I can never quite get why people block someone, especially when genuine 24 carat nut case's are fully aware that all they have to do is get a new email address, then upload a fresh profile, and get back to you, AGAIN! If that's their intent. I personally find that ignoring someone is far more effective, especially when there is the facility in place to look at a message, and mark it as unread. A couple of pals and I, each professional guys with a good standard of living, and reasonably experienced were debating this subject of being blocked by people we haven't even messaged, and we have all come to the conclusion that we are being blocked by rank amateurs who have read, and digested our profiles, and realise that they are out of their depths. That comment should piss a few off lol
