They may limit what you could do, and that in turn may affect your enjoyment and so they matter in that sense, but when it comes to seeing people naked no they don’t (or shouldn’t).

Scars are like life tattoos.

They are nothing to feel embarrassed by. I have stretch marks from pregnancies and weight loss, scars from operations for fertility treatment years ago and a hysterectomy.... all part and parcel of my life experiences.

I do however understand your insecurities and have my own regarding my body but it's not because of scars, it's more because I dislike what I see from weight loss body changes through exercise.

Away with the faeries

It's tough to look past the things that you see in/on yourself to the point where you would fully accept the positive input from anyone else. And sometimes it really is ok to want acceptance from others.

For me, I had some body confidence issues (still do at times) and it wasn't until I met a rather special friend that these things began to feel a lot less prominent in my mind. He worshipped every flawed inch of me and those flaws melted away into something a lot less important.

They don't ever fully go away for me, but I guess I'm saying that there are people in this world who will really look at you/into you and not only will they never want to change a thing about you, they will treasure what you have to the point where you can feel like you truly own every little scar, mark...'flaw'.

No they don't, the scars we share with people, regardless of physical or emotional, can be the most beautiful way to truely connect and open up to another person.

My physical scars are plain to see and I share the emotionl one with only the people I realy do cre about, including some of my more darker experiences.

Scars are your story. They make you real and earthy...not perfectly ethereal.

Cesarean scars, along with stretch marks are the reminders of the sacrifice a lady makes to give birth. They are actually lovely if you look away from the purely aesthetic.

The only people who care about aesthetic only are people you haven't talked to, or are shallow.

And they don't matter.

Scars don't matter at all. Mrs has stretch some stretch marks and we love them. Reminders of our amazing life. Body imperfections shouldn't matter. Most of us will have some body confidence issues, weight, hair, size, etc so you are not alone.

It's hard because often just being told they are ok, doesn't always make the confidence suddenly improve to a level where you are not conscious any more but with enough positivity and support for yourself and from others, it will improve.

Personally, We got to a point where we just thought fuck it, can't change much of the things that worry us but if people didn't like it, then they are not right for us and we should value ourselves for who we are.

No they really don't matter at least not to me in any bad way OP.

I actually like scars of all kind be they stretch marks or scars from surgery, I find them fascinating but not in a turn on sense so I'm always happy to see them. I like one in particular of my own as it was from a shoulder surgery op where I was awake through it and got to see what they were doing while it was opened up.

Scars tell a story of who you are and what you have been through. If someone is a twat about a scar (the way it looks etc) then they don't deserve the pleasure of being with you naked in the first place!

Here’s the stupid thing - scars on someone else don’t matter to me at all. My own scars though? They’ve definitely knocked my confidence. When the nurse changed my dressings after my last (very unexpected) op, I sobbed because they looked so ugly. I don’t feel quite as bad now they’ve healed, but I do still feel a bit wobbly about them.

Sparkles, you're beautiful. Those scars won't matter a jot to the bloke who's totally into you (figuratively and literally ) and they are part of your story. That story can't be erased, nor can the scars, but you can learn to tell it in a way that describes rather than limits you. x

It will matter to some but not to most - just be honest and the let the superficial run away.

Then take it baby steps - maybe not go completely nuts at first. Again a quality person will be understanding and will want you to be as comfortable as possible.

I have been with guys with bad scarring and i can't say it put me off one bit.

"Having a bit of a body confidence issue and I don't think I could ever get totally naked with anyone again.

I’m going to say NO as I really don’t mind scars on others and can see past them as they all have a story. However, I am so different about them on me. Like you, I don’t feel confident to go naked and tend to stay covered up as I have a lot of scarring from previous surgery from having cancer at 19, again at 28 and at 41. The Mr constantly tells me that it doesn’t matter to him and that my sexual appeal is far greater and not to worry. However, they do make me conscious...

Yes they do matter. They matter to you. If you don't feel comfortable naked why do it?

If it's an arm scar you could wear a bandage over it. Anything that makes you feel happier.

That’s why it’s so silly, I know logically that they don’t matter, especially when reading a thread like this, but believing it emotionally is something else. Oh well, I’ll just keep slathering the Bio-Oil on, it’s not like anyone will be seeing me naked for a while!

"It's the low confidence that is more likely to put someone off

I am confident when fully dressed and particularly dressed....just not fully naked."

I understand this, we all have body confidence issues to some degree.

But, once you've got down to 'partially dressed', presumably so is the other party.... so they almost certainly fancy you enough to be past the point at which a scar would be an issue.

"Having a bit of a body confidence issue and I don't think I could ever get totally naked with anyone again.

Do they matter??"

No they don't. Scars can look beautiful anyway.

If you are unsure, show us yourself naked sometime and we'll let you know our opinion. It's pretty clear you are a stunner.

Compare scars with Hannah. I would hazard a guess she has more significant scarring than you. Better still, I'll examine you both at the same time.

After three different surgeries in the last year I now have several scars, if people have an issue with them well they can go fuck themselves!

I have a 10" long scar on each hip plus my csection scar.

They knocked my confidence to begin with but 10 years later I have had no bad reactions to them, some curiosity (double hip surgery) but my confidence grew and I hardly notice them now.

Embrace them, they are part of your story xx

Being in possession of some pretty impressive scars myself (male half) I do sometimes wonder what people think of them, but at the end of the day, they don’t affect my life or my performance and many others have more damaging mental scars that cannot be seen, that affect their every waking moment; so basically if someone has an issue with your scars, they really need to get a grip. I just see them as my life tattoos.

My dear, all the imperfections make us unique and sexy. Please do not forget there is a history of your life... Sometimes sad sometimes happy.

You are beautiful

They matter.

I bloody earnt mine with blood and tears. Took time but I got to the point that I think of them like my ink.

Badges.

I still have occasional insecure moments but generally that's caused by letting others opinions get to me.

Dont do that. It's a hard habit to break.

To sum it up if I didnt have my scars I might not be here today

I have quite a few scars a couple on my hands from operations from an accident when I was younger I also have one major one on my ankle from the same accident. I also have a couple of other scars from other little mishaps.

But I hardly notice them anymore, however when I do they remind me what I went through at the time and how far I have come to over come the issues around them.

In summary, you can either make an issue of your scars or you can think sod it.. I have bloody well overcome the issues behind them and if you the person who is looking at them and me naked and you are making something of them, then to be honest you need to have a good look at yourself both inside and out.

Don't let them affect you, we all have some one way or another.

I have tattoos over scars too. To pretend to be what was originally there.

It's an interesting way to combine hiding something and fooling the casual eye. And also I love ink.

They shouldn't matter nope!

Saying that I have a couple of scars which I always worry will put someone off if I was close to, due to an operation which has left an ugly scar.

To me a scar shows you haved lived your life.

It doesn't matter if it is due to injury or an operation, it tells a story of you.

I have scars on top of scars on my knees, when I came off motorbikes and bicycles. I have a rather fetching 4 inch scar on my abdomen, where they took away my cancer, also the testicle it was attached to.

If someone judges you by the scars you have, you need to be asking do I really want to be with this person?
