"Just finished an article dealing with Group Dynamics in society..it points out that when in a group situation, because of relative anonymity, we are capable of committing acts that we would never dream of doing as individuals. And this mimics similar behaviour found in the animal kingdom. Do any of you fabsters, who have participated in group sex, ie more than eight..think this probable. For instance, having sex with someone who you wouldn't with as an individual..or taking part in bisexual activity when you are normally straight. And if so, do you think it indicates that behind all the cultural, and moral restraints society demands, we are never very far from regressing back to our more primitive instincts. " First thing I thought of was the Milgram exeriment. I guess that's not what you were getting at.

" I get where you were coming from, but as I understand it the Milgram experiment was to explore how individuals responded to authority, when given orders that in normal circumstances they would think abhorrent to obey....in the case of group behaviour it's the relative anonymity of being part of a group that allows us to behave in a different way than they would do as an individual.

" Yes it was an authority experiment, but it was this that made me think of it- 'when in a group situation.... we are capable of committing acts that we would never dream of doing as individuals'. I hadn't read on at that point to see that you were referring to people's behaviour within a group situation. It was just me not reading properly. Still a cool experiment though.
